Did you know your brain continues developing into your mid-to-late 20s? During adolescence and young adulthood, the brain is constantly fine-tuning itself through a process called synaptic pruning — strengthening the connections you use most and trimming away others.

The areas involved in decision-making, impulse control, planning, and judgment are among the last to fully mature.

That’s why prevention matters. The choices you make while your brain is developing can shape the foundation you build for the future.

Western CT Coalition (our Regional Behavioral Health Action Organization) has launched a survey to better understand adult health trends, community strengths, emerging issues, and prevention needs. The data will be shared with SPARC (Bridgewater, Roxbury, and Washington's Local Prevention Council) and other LPC's to inform health promotion and prevention strategies. The more residents that participate, the better we can support the needs of our community.

The survey is open to anyone aged 18 and older who lives or works in Western CT. It takes around 14 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential and anonymous - any question that a participant does not want to answer can be skipped. Responses will be collected through the month of September; the survey will close on Thursday, October 1.

Happy first day of school to all Region 12 students and staff!

SPARC is excited to announce that we are one of five programs that were awarded a $10,000 grant from the Western Ct Coalition as part of the Juul Settlement Funds with support from CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. We are looking forward to work with WCTC, Region 12 Schools, and community members in preventing underage ni****ne use through education and enhancing access to cessation services.
