Meet Sassafras Swirl, He is 2 years , He would do best in a quiet home, no other animals or kids .
Sassafras Swirl lives up to every syllable of his name. He’s got the sweetness of a Southern dessert and just enough sass to keep things interesting—mostly at mealtimes, when he will loudly make sure you haven’t forgotten him. (You won’t.) The moment his belly is full, though? He’s immediately switching gears to demand pets and scritches. Loudly, again. He has opinions, and he shares them.
Outside of his very reasonable culinary advocacy, Sassafras is a genuine lap cat. He’ll settle in beside you for a movie or a long read, bat enthusiastically at a mouse-on-a-string, and melt into whatever sunbeam he can find. He uses his scratching posts religiously. He is, in short, a cat who knows what he likes.
He also has what we’ll generously call a well-developed survival instinct. Strange sounds, unfamiliar situations, anything slightly suspicious? Sassafras is going to investigate from the safety of his hiding spot, thank you very much. (He went as a conspiracy theorist for Halloween. It was very on-brand.) This isn’t a flaw; it’s just Sassafras being Sassafras. With patience and a calm environment, he comes around.
His backstory gives a little context: Sassafras was clearly an indoor cat at some point in his life. We know this because when he found himself briefly on the street, he used a raised garden bed as a litter box, perhaps because it was the only thing that looked familiar. His foster brought him inside immediately, and he’s been thriving ever since. His litter box habits are impeccable.
Because his time outdoors was likely his first real exposure to other cats, he’s still figuring out that they can be friends rather than threats. We’re working on that in foster care now.
Sassafras would do best in a quieter home without young children or dogs (somewhere he can be the main character, because honestly, he was born for that role).
