Goodbye to this Republican Party.
After over 40 years of dedicated work, the Republican Majority for Choice has decided to close operations. We invite you to read our closing Opinion Editorial published by the New York Times today - www.nytimes.com/2018/06/24/opinion/abortion-rights-republican-party-women.html

This piece summarizes the ill-fated changes in the Republican Party that led to our decision. RMC can no longer provide cover for a party that is on the wrong side of history as it asserts reproductive health policies which limit the economic choices for so many women.

RMC fought hard in primaries and donated millions to Republicans who believed freedom from government intervention extended to a person’s bedroom and doctor’s office. We took our fight to Congress and the courts and won on important issues like teen pregnancy prevention, stem cell research and emergency contraception. We made the case that true fiscal conservatives embrace family planning because it reduces poverty, increases educational attainment and workforce competitiveness, and improves health and social outcomes for parents and children. We are proud of our contribution to reducing the number of unintended pregnancies and reductions in billions of taxpayer dollars spent on the welfare state.

We know our mission will live on in the tens of thousands of supporters we have had over the years. It will live on in the millions of men and women, and the next generation of activists who do not vote along party lines but for policies they care most about.
We thank our donors and supporters and elected leaders who joined the fight for individual freedom and limiting government control of personal health decisions.

We just received word that the US Senate will vote today on H.J. Resolution 43 which seeks to overturn an existing rule ensuring state politicians cannot block access to Title X family planning care at a certain health centers, including Planned Parenthood.

Title X ensures that every person, regardless of where they live or how much money they make, has access to preventive reproductive health care, including lifesaving cancer screenings, birth control, STI testing and treatment, and well-woman exams - not funds can be used for abortion

The battle to safeguard this rule will be won or lost in the Republican caucus so we need to mobilize common sense Republicans and Independents NOW - click here for more. www.gopchoice.wordpress.com

Breaking News: Chance to safeguard birth control and cancer screenings for low income Americans. PLEASE Act NOW!

The US House is poised to overturn a rule that protects more than 4 million people who rely on Title X, the nation’s family planning program.

The existing rule ensures state politicians cannot block access to Title X family planning care at a certain health centers, including Planned Parenthood.

We just received word that a growing block of mainstream Republican leaders are uncomfortable with this maneuvering and that there is a chance to delay this vote.

Title X is meant to ensure that every person, regardless of where they live or how much money they make, has access to preventive reproductive health care, including lifesaving cancer screenings, birth control, STI testing and treatment, and well-woman exams.

Check out this new polling released by The National Campaign to prevent Teen and Unintended Pregnancy. It shows broad Bi-Partisan public support for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program, the Personal Responsibility Program (PREP), and the Title X Family Planning program:

* 85% of adults (including 75% of Republicans and 89% of Democrats) support current federal efforts to prevent teen pregnancy through the evidence-based TPP Program and PREP.

* 75% of adults (including 66% of Republicans and 84% of Democrats) support Title X, the federal program that provides free or low cost birth control to those making $30,000 a year or less.

These programs were targeted to be zeroed out by some in the GOP but are programs that actually lower the rate of teen and unintended pregnancy leading to fewer abortions and financially savings for families and taxpayers. These are the types of programs RMC will be championing this year. Thank you for your calls and emails and stay tuned for our new action agenda coming to you soon. We need you to help us get Congress to support proven effective preventive programs that work.

The results are in and we want to congratulate key mainstream Republicans who won their re-election bids. US Senator Lisa Murkowski was re-elected in Alaska and will be a critical voice in the Senate and an important line of defense for our limited government ideals. We congratulate Congressman Charlie Dent on his win in Pennsylvania. His leadership as the Chair of the mainstream Tuesday Group Caucus is now more important than ever. We also congratulate New Jersey Congressman Rodney Frelinghysen on his re-election; his role in GOP leadership will be a vital voice for putting solutions first.

There are also over two dozen Republicans with whom RMC and our partners have been working to gain support for common ground preventive care programs like Title X and the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. With GOP control of the House, Senate and White House we must ensure that more Republican voices understand these programs are key for millions of women and families having access to basic reproductive information, contraception and care.

Donald Trump has scored an historic victory in the Electoral College for which he should be congratulated. Like many across the nation we greet today with concern, but also with hope that President elect Trump will reach out to all Americans to be part of the process of healing our divided nation, an opportunity we welcome.

In his election night speech, President elect Trump pledged to fight for every single American to have the opportunity to realize their full potential. This sentiment must extend to finding solutions for economic and social issues that affect all Americans from all backgrounds and all socio-economic means.

It’s clear voters responded to Donald Trump's declarations that Washington is broken. With the results confirmed, we must look to the future. Now is the time for thoughtful review, not hasty actions that could have irrevocable results. As a Republican organization focused on limiting government control of personal choices, we urge President elect Trump to stand by his call for common ground over hostility. We hope to see a President who will be the outside of the box leader many expect and bring new groups to the table to begin that common ground work.

Check out our National Co-Chair Susan Bevan's latest opinion piece running in the Huffington Post. Frustrated by the degradation of our political system and the discourse in this Presidential cycle, she answers the question “What are you going to do, Susan?”

Susan explains her position in this Presidential election and the hope that real Republicans can work together to get our party back on track. The piece also outlines how RMC has been steadfastly focused on our legislative and education efforts AND on supporting the mainstream Republicans running for Congress. These Congressional leaders are now more important than ever, as they will ensure there will be balance of power in our government.

"We can all yell, show our outrage and demand better from our Party — and we should — but we need to do more. As a life-long Republican, I believe that when my Party is so off track, it is not my role to follow blindly but to call out what is wrong, support those who stand on principle and push hard to get us back onto the right path. I have not abandoned my Party; the chosen GOP candidate has abandoned the principles that I, and so many Republicans, hold dear.

How many RMC supporters are watching this debate? Starting off with questions about the Supreme Court and the right to reproductive choices is showing a clear distinction between these candidates. Regardless of where you stand of the right to choose we have to understand reproductive health is about so much more than abortion. It is not the role of government to make such difficult personal medical decisions for American women. We need to find common ground on proven effective ways to reduce the need for abortion.

We have the answers; both parties need to support the solutions.

As you read this message the RMC Team is back on Capitol Hill having one our most important meetings this year. The Presidential election may hold the headlines but Congress is back in session and vital votes, impacting important programs, are happening right now.

We are bringing the facts about our top priority, funding for The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP), to dozens of members of Congress.

Mainstream GOP Senator Susan Collins joins a long line of Republicans who will not support Donald Trump's Presidential bid.

Collins says, "Some will say that as a Republican I have an obligation to support my party’s nominee. I have thought long and hard about that, for being a Republican is part of what defines me as a person. I revere the history of my party, most particularly the value it has always placed on the worth and dignity of the individual, and I will continue to work across the country for Republican candidates. It is because of Mr. Trump’s inability and unwillingness to honor that legacy that I am unable to support his candidacy."

Sound off here - as mainstream Republicans are you supporting Mr. Trump? Are you considering voting the former GOP Governors, Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, who are running on the libertarian ticket this year? Maybe voting for Hillary Clinton or writing in - we want to hear your thoughts!

Remember RMC is hard at work on the Congressional and State level, pushing for vital family planning programs and supporting mainstream, Pro-Choice Republicans running for the US House and Senate. You can support our efforts by going to www.GOPChoice.org and making a donation today!

Check out our latest opinion piece running in this weeks Huffington Post. RMC National Co-Chair Susan Bevan remarks on Ivanka Trump's GOP Convention speech and outlines the undeniable link between family planning and economic opportunity for women and families.

True fiscal conservatives support reproductive health planning and understand the positive economic impact sound family planning policy has the families and taxpayers.

The GOP Convention officially kicked off and has already kicked women and family planning to the curb.

Mr. Trump's VP pick, Gov. Mike Pence, is one of the most anti-choice and anti- family planning leaders in the nation, and the GOP Platform is the most socially extreme yet. Beyond the typical language calling for a Constitutional amendment banning all abortion, the platform condemns stem cell research and fact-based s*x education and pushes for largely ineffective abstinence until marriage.

Come on GOP, it’s time to put solutions first. If you want to condemn abortion rights, then at least support solutions that are working to lower teen and unplanned pregnancy. At least recognize the very real ECONOMIC impact that family planning decisions have on all American families and on taxpayers.

While our nation spends $9.4 BILLION dollars on teen pregnancies each year (the majority of which are unplanned), we know that a small investment in the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program has helped lower the rate of Teen Pregnancy by 29%. We also know that Medicaid pays for 48% percent of all births in the U.S. The average national cost for one Medicaid-covered birth is $12,770, while the annual per-client cost for publicly funded contraceptive care is estimated to be only $239.

Is it any wonder that this is the scene from today's “Women for Trump” Event? Fewer than twenty people attended.

Family planning issues ARE economic issues and the GOP is missing a huge opportunity to stand up for what is working and stand up for the American families for which they claim to be fighting.
