💙🏠🩷CALLIE and SAMMY are available for adoption, TOGETHER!💙🏠🩷

These two are young, fun-loving and energetic Ridgebacks. They are not siblings. Some of their favorite activities are chasing one another, running in the yard and trying to catch squirrels and rabbits. They play together with their favorite octopus toy along with a variety of chew toys and real bones. Long walks, with lots of sniffing, is also on their favorites list. In their down time, they like to be snugly with one another on their comfy dog beds.

Fencing is needed to keep them safe. They will benefit from continued training and socialization with people and other dogs. A home with no other pets is needed.

Someone forgot to inform Henry not everything is a snack…🥨

Sweet Henry came to RRRI from a Southern California shelter after spending his entire life up to that point with his mom and 2 brothers, living outside. He’s had a lot of new experiences lately, and he’s learning all about the whole spoiled hound thing. 👑🐾

Unfortunately, one of the lessons he’s still working on is that just because you CAN eat something doesn’t mean you SHOULD. 😮

His curiosity got him into a bit of a kerfuffle, landing him in the ER 🚨 and, ultimately, on the operating table to remove an obstruction. Because apparently, some things really are better left uneaten. 🤷‍♂️

The good news is that Henry is on the mend! He is getting lots of love, TLC and all the snacks his little heart desires. Wellll . . . mostly all the snacks! Shhhh . . . don’t tell him some of those snacks are laced with meds! 💊

He’s doing well, and in no time, he will be completely healed and ready to take on the world 🌍 by storm 🌪️ again, though hopefully with a much more discerning palate!

Ranger is a purebred 6yo, sweet boy who is looking for a family to call his own once again. He has had a confusing couple of months. His owner had to suddenly go into assisted living, which was heartbreaking for him. Thankfully, his owner’s family stepped up to take him in. Unfortunately, family dynamics and logistics made it impossible for them to keep him. Thankfully, they reached out to a family friend who was able to get in touch with RRRI to surrender him.

Ranger seems to melt when he receives human attention, it is all he wants in life, at least at this time. He would really love to get into a home where he could get more one-on-one attention from his humans. Another dog would be okay, too . . . if he must.

In his original home, Ranger did live with a large dog. In his temporary foster he has also seen other large dogs from a distance and done fine. He has also done well in a crate and with the older children.

It has been a while since Ranger has had a good once-over, so he is willing to go to the DOGtor . . . but only if snacks are promised afterward!

Meet Piper, a sweet and social 7 year old purebred lovernose who recently traded in her latchkey life on the farm for a life of indoor luxury, and boy did she take to that life! There is no going back for Piper now, she has taken quite a liking to having humans, dog friends, couches, dog and human beds . . . . and if she’s honest, the plethora of snacks that comes with being in the house too . . . the kind that are given and the kind that are “found!” She is quite the social butterfly and is a fan of pretty much everyone, men, women, older kids, and dogs both large and small, she has even had the pleasure of meeting the occasional horse and cow and allegedly cats (we’re taking her word on the miniature lions). One of her favorite things is a car ride, she will happily ride sh***un on any road trip especially if it might involve snacks. She is fully housebroken, but a crate?!? Piper says, “I have tasted seven years of freedom, I reject confinement and have unlocked the secret skill of opening closed doors like a tiny human.” Her one little quirk is a touch of separation anxiety from her past life, she believes that she should never be left behind. Luckily, she’s made wonderful progress in her foster home and does great as long as her humans are around most of the time or if she has her furry foster sibling to keep her company while the humans run out for more treats.

Do you have a rescue Ridgeback? Do you love to show off your best friend? If so, you’re in luck! This year’s National Ridgeback Specialty will be held in Topeka, KS. On Thursday evening, October 15th, the event will feature the Top 25 Ridgebacks in the country, as well as the rescue champions of your heart. That evening, they’ll all strut their stuff around the ring.

There is no cost to participate in the Rescue Parade, and each dog that participates will receive a ribbon and a medallion. Procrastination may be an art, but space is limited, so don’t wait too long to secure your spot.

*all entrants OVER 12 months of age must be spayed or neutered, at the time of entry submission.

**Any dog adopted as a Ridgeback and/or Ridgeback mix from one of the seven recognized breed specific rescues may enter. Dogs adopted from a shelter must be purebred (if ridgeless with proof) or permanently ridged, if a mix.

Meet Benny! He’s a 4-year-old purebred who is currently in boarding and would love to find a foster home. While he’s doing well in boarding, he is more than ready to step into a real home and learn what the good life is all about.

Because Benny spent the first four years of his life living outdoors, he will need a patient foster who can help introduce him to being an indoor dog.

During his time in boarding, he’s made great progress on his leash manners. He thrives with a calm handler who provides clear, consistent boundaries. Benny is very intuitive, if he senses you aren't fully engaged, he’ll happily take you for a ride on the leash!

He is still building his trust with people, so he doesn't enjoy anyone reaching over or touching his head right now. The absolute best way to earn his trust and help him come out of his shell is to sit quietly beside him, letting him approach on his own terms. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet, goofy, and playful side shines through. Plus, he is a massive fan of snacks and takes treats with the gentlest mouth!

Because of his background, Benny loves to go exploring. A securely fenced yard is a must for his safety, along with a foster who will help him learn entry and exit boundaries.

Benny would do best as an only dog or with a calm, stable female.

If you have a quiet routine, a secure yard, and a spot on your couch for a resilient boy learning the ropes, Benny is ready for you!

Meet the Boxcar Children: Henry, Jesse, Benny and Violet! They recently found themselves in a predicament, where they were homeless and facing a life of uncertainty. Even though they were terrified, they knew they couldn't let it get the better of them and were determined to make the best of their circumstances. Soon they learned Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue, Inc. had arranged to pick them up and there was a whole life of possibilities and adventure awaiting them.

While Violet and Henry are getting settled into their foster homes.
Benny and Jesse are still looking for fosters, and currently in boarding. However, while they wait, they will be getting lots of one on one attention, starting on basic obedience, and just some good old pampering.

While we are learning more every everyday, this is what we know so far:
Henry (4), is a sweet boy that seems to just want to soak up any and all attention from humans.
Benny (4), needs time to come out of his shell, he wants to sit back and observe before he determines if the world is safe to participate in.
Jesse (4), is an energetic boy who is inquisitive but also likely will get overstimulated by the world since he has not been socialized.
Violet (5), is sweet, needs to be evaluated by the vet due to her weight and skin issues.
