The American people want a representative who works hard, shares their values, works across the aisle, and gets things done for their constituents. By the grace of God, we’ve been able to help a lot of people. As a Navy SEAL veteran, serving in Congress is how I continue service to our great nation. When I was in the General Assembly, my team and I were able to pass bills every year where every Democrat and every Republican voted yes. At the same time, I received the highest award for conservatism.

Fast forward to my time in Congress, today, I received the highest award for conservatism in Congress. My team and I have been serving together for 16 months, solving problems, and getting things accomplished for the people we represent. Most recently, we passed two bills in the span of three weeks. One of those bills was the Wintergreen Emergency Egress Act. This was a 25-year problem the last six congressmen tried to solve, but were unable to get across the finish line. My incredible team and I found out about this issue and by working across the aisle got this bill passed in the House in just six months.

I was elected to represent Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District, and Tuesday’s election does not change that.

Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone else who put in countless hours putting up signs, making phone calls, and more to help us get out the vote.

We expect the Virginia Supreme Court to do its constitutional duty and uphold the lower court ruling on the redistricting referendum as unconstitutional and illegal. Until then, I will continue to campaign and represent the amazing people of the current Fifth District.

It is an honor to serve you and your family. God bless America, and God bless our great Commonwealth.

Honored to accept The Institute for Legislative Analysis’ Defender of Limited Government award.

I’ve fought to rein in the size and scope of government since first being elected in 2012, and will continue to do so each and every day.

I am honored to have received the Defender of Limited Government award.

This recognition reflects a commitment I’ve carried with me every day in Congress: to uphold the Constitution, protect individual liberty, and ensure Washington works for the American people, not the other way around.

This award reinforces what matters most to me: standing firm on principle and delivering results that keep government accountable and limited.

I am grateful for this recognition, and even more committed to continuing the fight.

Thank you to for the feature! Data-driven insights into legislative behavior and ideology matter, and we’re glad to see this conversation getting broader attention. 👏

During President Donald Trump’s second term, congressional Republicans have become simultaneously less moderate and less likely to embrace limited government, according to a new study shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Institute for Legislative Analysis (ILA) released its 2026 Congressional Vote Report on Thursday morning after analyzing over a quarter million different legislative votes and ranking all members of both the House and the Senate on a 0 to 100 ideological scale, with higher numbers signifying stronger adherence to limited government principles. Republican lawmakers were significantly less likely to score below 60% in 2025 than in 2023 and also less likely to score above 90%, the report found.

The Framers envisioned a form of government that limited federal power and its influence over citizens. I will continue to uphold those foundational ideals and principles in Congress.
