ABAA Air Barrier Association of America We are the National Voice of the Air Barrier Industry in America. We do Air Barriers right for energy

The Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) is a national, not-for-profit trade association that consists of a wide cross section of stakeholders in the building enclosure industry. Their membership includes manufacturers, architects, engineers, trade contractors, researchers, testing & audit agencies, consultants and building owners. ABAA is the national voice of the air barrier industry and ha

s raised the level of quality in the industry through a Quality Assurance Program and offers premier training, certification, product evaluations, contractor accreditation and site quality control audits. ABAA is active in the areas of research, education, standards development, building codes and technical resources for the air barrier industry. ABAA is focused on leading the industry into the future in a progressive and professional manner.

Join us next Thursday for 'Skin Deep Efficiency: Engineering Performance-Driven Facades', presented by Manan Raval and Jun Schick Lee:

Building façades play a critical role in shaping energy performance, occupant comfort, durability, and architectural identity. This course explores how façade and cladding systems influence building efficiency through thermal control, daylighting, solar management, and material selection. Participants will examine performance-driven design strategies that balance aesthetics with measurable building outcomes, while also considering constructability, code compliance, and long-term sustainability goals. Through real-world examples and practical design considerations, attendees will learn how to evaluate façade systems in the context of energy codes, façade safety requirements, and urban building performance demands. The course will also introduce fundamental performance analysis methods –including energy modeling and daylight simulation tools –to support informed decision-making during the design process. Emphasis will be placed on understanding trade-offs between architectural expression and building performance, enabling participants to develop façade solutions that align with project objectives, occupant needs, and environmental responsibility.

The Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) is pleased to sponsor the 2026 Wagdy Anis Symposium on June 25.

This respected industry event brings together professionals from across the building enclosure community to share knowledge, discuss emerging challenges, and advance best practices in design and construction.

We are particularly proud that Brian Stroik—ABAA member, past Chair, and former Director—will deliver the keynote address. Brian's leadership and contributions to the industry have helped shape the conversation around building performance, durability, and quality assurance, and we look forward to hearing his perspective.

We hope to see you there as we continue working together to advance excellence in building enclosure performance.

Join us tomorrow, Thursday, for 'What the Heck are Air Barriers, V***r Barriers, and Water-Resistive Barriers? A Simplified Look at Air Barriers & Thermal Bridging', presented by Laverne Dalgleish:

These terms are often described as simple—so why is there so much confusion? This presentation explains what air barriers, v***r barriers, and water-resistive barriers are, and when a single material may serve more than one function. That overlap is often where misunderstandings arise. The session explores which barriers are critical, which may be less so, and how their role can change depending on where they are installed within the building envelope. The impact of thermal bridging on barrier performance is also examined.

What does "verified" truly mean?

It means the installation has been reviewed, documented and confirmed in the field.

Not assumed. Not implied. Proven.
