π Farewell, Waldport Chapter 1124 π
Women of the Moose
May 19, 1957 β June 7, 2026
Today is a bittersweet day for Waldport Chapter 1124, Women of the Moose.
After nearly 70 years of service, friendship, leadership, fundraising, and dedication, our chapter has voted to forfeit its charter effective today, Saturday, June 7, 2026.
Founded on May 19, 1957, Waldport Chapter 1124 faithfully served Moose International, Mooseheart Child City & School, Moosehaven Retirement Village, our local Lodge, and countless charitable causes throughout Oregon. For generations, our members dedicated their time, talents, and hearts to helping others, raising funds, supporting our community, and carrying forward the mission of the Women of the Moose.
The Women of the Moose have long been known as the βHeart of the Moose.β Through their All Heart commitment, members devote countless volunteer hours in service to others and are a driving force behind the support of Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Waldport Chapter 1124 was proud to be part of that legacy for nearly seven decades.
Like many chapters across the fraternity, we experienced significant membership decline following the transition to One Moose. Prior to May 2021, membership in the Women of the Moose was required for women wishing to enjoy the benefits and fellowship of the Lodge. After the transition, many members chose to remain Lodge members only, resulting in a steady decline in Chapter membership. Over time, it became increasingly difficult to fill officer positions, committee chairs, and leadership roles necessary to continue operating the Chapter.
For years, a dedicated handful of members worked tirelessly to keep Chapter 1124 active and thriving. We filled multiple chairs, served on committees, conducted fundraising activities, supported our Lodge, and continued our commitment to Mooseheart and Moosehaven. However, after much discussion, reflection, and heartfelt deliberation, and with no members able to step forward to serve as officers for the coming year, the decision was made unanimously to surrender our charter.
For the WOTM Lifetime Members for the past many years, this announcement is especially difficult for many of us. We have been honored to serve alongside extraordinary women whose dedication, friendship, and commitment helped sustain our Chapter through both prosperous and challenging times. Together, we laughed, worked, volunteered, fundraised, celebrated accomplishments, and supported one another as sisters.
While Waldport Chapter 1124 is closing, the spirit of the Women of the Moose will continue. Members wishing to remain active, including our Lifetime Members, will become part of the All Heart Women of the Moose, headquartered in Mooseheart, Illinois, where the mission and traditions of the Women of the Moose will continue to flourish.
To every officer, committee chair, volunteer, member, supporter, and friend who has been part of Waldport Chapter 1124 since 1957:
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your generosity.
Thank you for your friendship.
Thank you for your dedication.
Thank you for your heart.
Though our charter closes today, the friendships we built, the lives we touched, and the legacy we leave behind will endure for generations to come.
Once a Chapter, Forever Family.
With gratitude and love,
Waldport Chapter 1124
