In the days before Christmas we were connected with two young women.
One has two young boys-and a mastectomy scheduled for December 22nd. The second has two young children -and a masectomy scheduled for December30th.
Can you even begin to imagine what that felt like?? It literally brought us to tears! Cancer doesnt wait. For holidays to pass or for life to stand still while you process it all……

Both of these women faced the holiday season with a BC diagnosis AND the realization that their children would be witness to their journey ….all while trying to plan and navigate everything the season brings!
We can honestly say that watching these women travel this road with such strength and dignity was beyond inspirational! We are in awe and crushed at the same time.
The fact that FRS can even bring a tiny spark of joy by supporting them through this- is the “why” of what we do.

Every dollar you provide helps us to tailor assistance that matches the individual needs of these brave warriors.
We are forever grateful and humbled at the connections we’ve made over the past (almost!) ten years.
And we hope we are able to continue to support our sisters in pink through your generosity ❣️

Thank you for your support in 2025!

In 2026-We will continue to embrace these woman and try to make their journey just a little bit easier….

💗 Smithfield Middle School Gives Back: Donation to Range Sisters

The Smithfield Middle School community came together this October to support Free Range Sisters, a local nonprofit that provides emotional support, care baskets, wigs, transportation, home cleanings, help with medical bills, and more for breast cancer patients across Hampton Roads.

SMS staff and students chose this organization as part of their annual commitment to community service and giving back. Throughout October, staff donated $1 each Monday to wear jeans paired with special shirts or Virginia Tech colors. Students joined in through the Anchored 4 Life club by contributing $1 to wear a wig or hat during school on Halloween.

Together, SMS raised $450, which was presented to Aimee Kram, president of Free Range Sisters. She expressed sincere gratitude for the school’s generosity and support.

While the effort was inspired by the memory of former SMS teacher Kristin Wiley Felts, the heart of this project is about coming together to lift others, spread kindness, and strengthen our community—values Ms. Felts embodied and that SMS is proud to carry forward.

Skip the line on race morning and come by New Realm Brewing Company to pick up your Frick & Frack 5K packet. If you purchased “Pickle Me Pink” raffle tickets online, you may pick those up as well. We will draw the raffle winner on Saturday morning at the event, but you do not need to be present to win. We will broadcast the drawing on Facebook live:)
