Children in our community, and their families, are in need of support from successful entrepreneurs and business owners or managers in order to achieve the goals they have of participating in high level training - to potentially be seen by someone that could be a difference maker in their lives. Our strongest desire is to help take the edge off of the financial burden that competitive sports can bring to a household, and put the emphasis back on development of abilities, on and off the field, that make great future leaders and citizens of this same community.
One of the things that’s difficult about sports in the US is that many of the opportunities available are extremely expensive. Even the best of the best in their sport, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic (An internationally renowned Swedish soccer player) recently from an article in Newsweek, in an interview with GQ, suggested that the cost for children to play soccer in the United States is a reason why the U.S Men's National Soccer Team has struggled in recent years. That’s a bold statement, but is seemingly true. He goes on to say, "It has to be said that the sport is expensive, very expensive. For example, in order for my children to play in a good football team, I have to pay $3,500 per child. It's not for the figure, but for the whole concept." Furthermore he states, "I dislike it very much because not everyone has the money needed and the sport should be something for everyone, because it unites races and people.” In other countries there is far less of a monetary commitment to play sports and, as such, more people are able to engage, play and be noticed - and ultimately then increase the chance for success for individuals, teams and even nations.
We are helping to find support because we feel that everyone who is willing to put in the work should have an opportunity to play at a higher level to be seen and evaluated - to at least have a chance. Whether through a one night promotional event, a sponsorship opportunity, or items families are able to sell like discount cards from local businesses, we feel that this is a great chance to fill a gap that is not well enough recognized as even existing. We very much look forward to giving a hand up to the kids who are examples in the making for the next generation.
TSS is a Community Organization that is helping families raise money to subsidize the costs of travel sports, which can sometimes be overwhelming, in order to ensure as many as possible have a level opportunity to play their sport at a high level.
