Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸

As we walk, hike, gather, and live fully — may we never forget the sacrifices that made those freedoms possible.

From all of us at Awareness Hike, thank you. ❤️🤍💙

Let’s be honest.

Sometimes the real hero of the hike is not motivation.
It is not endurance.
It is not even the view.

It is the snack you forgot you packed at exactly the right moment.

Trail snacks save lives.
Okay, maybe dramatic.
But also… not really. 😂

The Awareness Hike is about community, purpose, and showing up for something bigger than ourselves.

But yes, snacks are also part of the emotional support team.

What is your must-have hiking snack?

Things hikers say during a hike:

“Are we almost there?”
“This is fine.”
“I thought you said it was flat.”
“Wait, look at that view.”
“I need a snack.”
“Okay… this was worth it.”

And honestly, that is kind of the whole point.

The hard parts, the funny parts, the snack breaks, the views, the people — it all becomes part of the story.

That is why we hike.
That is why we show up.
That is why this mission matters.

Trail math is wild.

1 mile in the beginning:
“Wow, I am outdoors. I am thriving.”

1 mile uphill:
“Who approved this?”

1 mile with friends:
“Okay, this is actually amazing.”

1 mile for a cause bigger than yourself:
“That one matters.”

The Awareness Hike is not just about miles. It is about showing up, pushing through, laughing through the hard parts, and helping support children with special needs through Aid Another.

One step still counts.
One share still helps.
One person caring still matters. 💛

Have you ever been hiking and ever have any of these happen to you?

As a beginner it is good to know some of the guidelines. This makes the hiking experience better for all parties.

Anyone else have anything to add to the list?

This week are some helpful tips for learning to hike.

Want to start hiking? Start with 1 mile.

Wear shoes that don’t hate you. And no, you do not need to run out and buy fancy trail shoes right away. That conversation can come later. For now, sneakers are a great choice while you figure out what kind of hiking you actually enjoy.

Bring water. Pick a route that feels doable. You do not need to look like you’re summiting Everest just to walk in the woods.

You can start by walking around your neighborhood, then move to a local park or trail. We have so many great local places to explore. Start with 1 mile, then try 2. Before you know it, 5 miles starts feeling possible — and that’s a great place to build from.

And remember, hiking looks different for everyone.

It does not always mean rushing to Shenandoah to climb Hawksbill. It can mean walking the Osprey Trail at First Landing, exploring a local park, or simply getting outside and moving your body.

Find what feels right for you.

Start small. Keep going.

Awareness Matters

Did You Know?

Awareness is part of the impact.

Sometimes people think impact only comes from the final fundraising number.

And yes — donations are incredibly important.

But awareness is powerful too.

Every time someone learns about Aid Another, shares the hike, talks about the mission, or invites someone new to follow along, the circle gets bigger.

More awareness can lead to more support.

More support can lead to more impact.

That is why we keep talking about it, even after the hike is over. (SOUND ON)

Who Does This Support?

Did you know?

The Awareness Hike supports Aid Another and their mission to help children with special needs and their families?

That is the heart behind the trail miles.

When people hike, donate, share, sponsor, or follow along, they are helping bring more attention to families and children who deserve support, resources, and community.

The trail is the visual.

The mission is the reason.

What Is the Awareness Hike?

Did You Know?
The Awareness Hike is more than a hike.

Did you know?

The Awareness Hike is not just about putting miles on a trail.

It is about using those miles to raise awareness and funds for Aid Another, a nonprofit that supports children with special needs.

The hike gives people a way to show up, move with purpose, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

Every step has a reason.

Every donation matters.

Every share helps the mission reach one more person.

That is why we hike.

The hike may be over for this year, but we’re not disappearing.

This page is here for more than one week of trail updates.

We’ll keep sharing stories, behind-the-scenes moments, hiker highlights, impact updates, ways to support, and little reminders of why this mission matters.

Because awareness isn’t a one-week thing.

It’s something we keep building.
One story at a time.
One connection at a time.
One person choosing to care at a time.

Thank you for following along, cheering us on, donating, sharing, and being part of this community.

The trail chapter may be closed for now, but the mission keeps moving. 💛
