What started in 2006 as a small group of friends tying flies for a youth camp has grown into something remarkable.
The Tie-a-Thon has now donated more than 360,000 flies to organizations supporting youth programs, veterans, cancer recovery, and conservation education across the country.
One line from the article especially stood out to us:
“Every time the mail comes, it feels like Christmas.”
This August, Deer Creek Sports & Conservation Club will be joining that spirit of generosity through our own Tie-In event in support of the Tie-a-Thon effort.
It’s not really about tying perfect flies.
It’s about people gathering around tables, sharing skills, telling stories, and creating something that may eventually encourage someone they will never even meet.
One fly at a time can still make a difference.
