I only met Chandler Hendry once.

And somehow, his impact on me has been far greater than I ever would have expected.

I’ve had the opportunity to become friends with his brother.

He’s spent the last month working on something to honor Chandler and asked if I would help him get it out there.

The world needs good men.

Men who work hard, provide, keep their word, love their families, and treat people well.

But Jesus Christ calls us beyond simply being considered a “good man.”

He said, “Follow me.”

Repentance.
Sacrifice.
Covenants.
Service.

Becoming more like Him.

The world needs good men.

Christ needs disciples.

If that’s the man you’re trying to become, comment DISCIPLE.

Elder Dale G. Renlund gave men a pretty direct standard today:

“Real men are accountable for their actions, acknowledge their mistakes, apologize, and try to set things right.”

That hits differently when you realize he didn’t say real men never make mistakes.

The question is what we do when we make them.

Admitting you were wrong doesn’t make you less of a man.

Refusing to admit it might.

Send this to a man who knows how to own it.

You may never be able to control what someone else believes, chooses, or becomes. But you do get a say in what kind of person they encounter when they meet you.

Character spreads. Patience spreads. Courage spreads. Love spreads.

Build the kind of life that makes the world around you better simply because you’re in it.

On September 2, 1842, Joseph Smith received word that a sheriff and armed men were coming to Nauvoo to arrest him.

At the same time, Joseph was deeply concerned with something much bigger than his own circumstances:

the work of salvation.

His instructions during this period included baptism for the dead and ensuring those ordinances were properly witnessed and recorded.

That contrast is incredible.

Men were trying to stop Joseph Smith.

The work kept moving forward.

There’s an interesting detail behind the word Elohim: it’s plural in form.

Then look at the baptism of Jesus Christ.

The Son is standing in the water.

The Holy Ghost descends like a dove.

The Father speaks from heaven:

“This is my beloved Son.”

Three distinct persons.

One Godhead.

Sometimes a familiar Bible story becomes much more interesting when you slow down and notice what’s actually happening.

Jesus warned us about being quick to notice what’s wrong with everyone else while overlooking what needs to change in ourselves.

Maybe we’d all be better disciples if we spent a little less time examining each other,

and a little more time examining ourselves and looking to Christ.

Stop looking at me.

I’ll stop looking at you.

Eyes on Jesus.

Great news. After more than 200 years of debate, the answer has finally been determined. 😏

The Book of Mormon is exactly what the cover says it is:

Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

More than anything else, that book has one purpose: to bring people to Jesus Christ.

Don't take my word for it.

Open it.
Read it.
Ask God for yourself.
