☀️🐾 HEAT ADVISORY: KEEP OUR ANIMALS SAFE! 🐾☀️

We’re hopefully going to see some relief from the heat this weekend, but until those cooler temperatures arrive, let’s keep our four-legged friends in mind! 🐶🐱

During excessive heat:

💧 Always provide fresh, clean water and check it throughout the day.
🏠 Outdoor animals need access to shade and adequate shelter. Bringing them indoors is ideal whenever possible.
🚶‍♀️ Avoid walks during peak heat. Early morning or evening is much safer, and hot pavement can burn paw pads.
🚗 NEVER leave an animal unattended in a vehicle. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become dangerously hot within minutes—even with the windows cracked.
❤️ Keep an eye out for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or unusual behavior.

🌤️ Cooler days are hopefully on the way—but until then, stay vigilant and keep those tails wagging safely!

If you see an animal in distress or have an animal-related concern, contact Humane Animal Services at 707-449-1700.

🐾 Stay cool. Stay safe. And give those furry friends some extra water and love! 💛

🐾🚓 When Animal Control Gets a Night Out! 😂

Humane Animal Services had an absolute blast at National Night Out in Vacaville! 🎉

Usually, when you see our officers out and about, they’re chasing loose dogs, answering calls, rescuing animals, or trying to figure out how a cat managed to get up there. 🐈‍⬛😂

But tonight? We got to socialize! 🙌

Our officers had so much fun stepping away from the calls for a little while and spending time with the amazing Vacaville community. We met some wonderful people, answered questions, talked about animals, laughed a LOT, and enjoyed getting to see everyone outside of our usual animal-control adventures. ❤️

And yes… our officers are apparently capable of smiling when they aren’t chasing a stray dog. 🤣🐕

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, take pictures, and hang out with us! We had a fantastic time and loved seeing so many familiar faces.

From responding to calls to responding to “Can I pet your dog?” — we had a pretty great night! 🐶❤️

📸 Check out some of our favorite moments from National Night Out!

📸🚔🚒 THE GREAT FELIX PHOTO SHOWDOWN! 🐶😂

Felix had quite the field trip and, of course, we had to document his adventures!

He stopped by Vacaville Police Department 🚔 and Vacaville Fire Department 🚒 for some photo ops… and now we have a very important question:

👇 WHO TOOK THE BETTER PICTURE WITH FELIX?! 👇

🚔 TEAM POLICE — Cool, calm, collected… and clearly ready for their new K-9 recruit. 😂

🚒 TEAM FIRE — Big trucks, big smiles, and apparently a very photogenic guest. 🔥🐶

But let’s be honest… Felix is carrying both teams in the photography department. 😂❤️

🐾 Felix’s Field Trip — A Day We Won’t Forget ❤️

Yesterday, two of our Animal Control Officers had a very special passenger join them for a day on the job — Felix (from SPCA of Solano County) 🐶

Felix got to experience the Animal Control life firsthand, and what an adventure it was! We made stops at Dutch Bros ☕️, Vacaville Fire Dept🚒, and Vacaville Police Department🚔. He rode along with us, helped run calls, and even took breaks with his officers along the way.

But the best part of Felix’s field trip wasn’t where we went… it was who we met. ❤️

While visiting Vacaville Police Department, Felix met someone who saw what we already knew — that this sweet boy deserved a family of his own. 🥹🐾

Sometimes, a simple field trip turns into something much bigger. Today, Felix didn’t just get to see the community we serve… he found someone who wanted to become his community. ❤️

We are so incredibly happy that Felix’s adventure led him to his next chapter. From riding around with his Animal Control Officers to finding his forever home — what a day!

We love the work we do, but moments like this are a beautiful reminder of why we do it. 🐾❤️

Good luck, Felix! We hope your next adventure is filled with endless treats, comfy naps, and a whole lot of love. 🏡🐶

🐕 LEASH UP, KEEP IT SAFE! 🐾

A leash isn’t just a rule—it helps keep your pet, other animals, and our community safe. 💙

Keeping your dog leashed can help prevent:
🐾 Running into traffic or getting lost
🐾 Unexpected encounters with people or other animals
🐾 Chasing wildlife
🐾 Dog fights and injuries

When you’re out with your pup, remember to use a sturdy leash, keep them close, and be mindful of your surroundings. A little prevention can go a long way! ❤️

🐾 SEPTEMBER BY THE NUMBERS! 🐾

Another busy month for Humane Animal Services! 💙🐾

Throughout September, our officers responded to 880 calls for service, helping animals and serving our community every step of the way.

📞 880 calls for service

🦝 31 wild animals received treatment
🏡 44 domestic animals returned to their owners
🔎 137 investigations

While out in Suisun today, one of our Animal Control Officers noticed two girls from one of the local schools who appeared to be in need of some help. Our officer approached the girls who explained that they could hear a kitten trapped down in a storm drain. It was confirmed that there was a small kitten, around seven weeks old that had fallen into the drain and appeared in distress.

Because these two young girls took the time to locate where the cries were coming from, and speak up, our officer was able to respond promptly. A second officer was dispatched out to assist with accessing the storm drain, both worked together to safely rescue the injured kitten and get the little one the veterinary care it needed. 🐱❤️

This is a wonderful example that being aware of our surroundings and speaking up when something doesn’t look right can make a tremendous difference. We are very proud of these two girls for being vigilant and asking for help. Their observations helped give this little kitten a second chance.

Thank you for caring enough and proving how one small act of kindness can save a life. ❤️
