This is what Pride Month is really about: Love 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤎🖤🩶🤍

Love isn’t a one-size fits all. There’s the love of siblings, love of friends, love of parents to children, and children to parents, the love between a man and a woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man, multiple women and men at once, and above all: the love you hold for yourself.

Because that’s what pride month is really about. It’s about celebrating those who aren’t afraid to love themselves, in any form that comes.

And it’s hard. It’s not a simple thing to love yourself, and others, openly and honestly. To share that you don’t feel love with your assigned gender, so you love yourself into who you know you are. To share that you love others of the same s*x. Or maybe it’s to share that you don’t feel love the same way that others do, and that’s okay too.

Love has never been about taking away anything from anyone else, but giving to them. Because what a powerful thing it is to be close enough with someone that they share how they feel about their life and love with you.

So the next time you feel yourself struggling with the way someone is expressing their love for themselves or others, take a step back and reframe your thinking. Maybe instead of being afraid of it, embrace it. Because what you’re witnessing is love.

And as bunnies have shown us time and time again, love is something to cherish.

Happy Pride Month to the incredible LGBTQ+ community. We stand with you, as we stand with love.

WE’RE NOT CRYING, YOU ARE 😩🥹🥰

Mistletoe was at a temporary foster’s house for a week while her long term foster was out of town. And needless to say, her temporary foster put the adorable grandma moves ON. She sang nursery rhymes and lullabies to her, and Mistletoe ate it up.

Mistletoe gave her kisses, accepted kisses back, and was so sweet and demure the whole week.

It was a side of our sassy little Mistletoe we hadn’t seen before, and it absolutely melted us.

This is why we foster. Because every bunny connects with every human in different ways, and it is a type of connection that if you haven’t experienced it yet, when you do, it will change your heart for the better. ♥️

Oh Rainbow Brite - today is your day. Why? You may not even realize it yet, but that car ride you’re about to go on? It ends in your new forever home, and two people who are so excited to love you endlessly. 🥹

You came to us with a nasty spay incision, so jagged and messy we were concerned it could ever be repaired. But you were resilient. You fought the reconstructive surgery and an intense recovery. You learned that the hands feeding you, weren’t scary ones anymore. You learned that life is pretty damn awesome, and that joy you exuded, was not easily missed.

So no, we’re not surprised you found your family this quickly. We knew they were right around the corner.

Happy Gotcha Day, Rainbow Brite. We’ll miss you, but are so thrilled to be saying, “See you later.” 🌈🦄

This could be you if you adopted Brambleberry… just saying 😉🤭😍

Because is there really anything more rewarding than a bunny binkying to the sound of your voice? 🥹

Mango says cleanliness is key 🔑🥭🧼

Did you know bunnies are actually very clean by nature? Often times rabbits who aren’t very clean are due to disabilities, improper care and habitats, etc. Rabbits are very clean by nature because what attracts predators? Smell.

By staying squeaky clean they reduce their scent and therefore reduce the chances of being found by a fox or coyote. This trait has passed down to domesticated rabbits as well!

Ever pet your bunny and then they groom themselves right after? Well.. they might be calling you a little stinky to their noses, but it’s for their own protection!

PS: Except for extreme cases, rabbits should never be bathed. And if they are to be bathed it should only be under the instruction of a rabbit-savvy vet.

Today in observance in of Memorial Day, we thank our fallen heroes who have given their lives so that our children and their loved ones can grow up safely due to their sacrifice.

We understand politics is polarizing, but sacrifice isn’t. Whatever you believe in this country, the people who gave their lives, did so because they love the people of this country.

And we hope that wherever they are now, they see moments like this: a sweet foster, breaking down the walls of Lovebug, and know that love continues.

We thank the incredible men and women who have given their lives for what they believe in, and we thank them that what they believed in us: Americans.

Rest in Peace. 🇺🇸

Let’s talk bunny litter boxes… modeled by adorable and pro-litter box user: Dusk! 🌅

Litter boxes for rabbits should be large enough for them to fit in and turn around completely within. Those tiny triangle shaped litter boxes from the pet store designed to go in cages? Yeah… toss that out.

Rabbits should have a rabbit safe bedding in their litter boxes and as much hay as you can stuff at a time (you’d be surprised how much hay they can eat!). The bedding should be either be an unscented pelleted pine or unscented paper bedding like Carefresh. There are many brands out there but we highly recommend the Tractor Supply horse pelleted bedding. It’s extremely inexpensive and safe for rabbits! No Tractor Supply nearby? Check out the unscented Feline Pine at your local pet store - another great option!

NOTE: Generally pine is not safe for rabbits, but the process of creating the pellets from the pine removes the harmful toxins. This is why you should NEVER use pine shavings or any kind of pine dust, as they have not been treated in the same way pine pellets. Same goes for standard cat or any kind of sand or granular litter - never safe!

Avoid things like trash bags, puppy pads, or newspaper. Rabbits can easily rip up and ingest these materials and either cause obstructions or toxic reactions. Some may have been doing this for a long time and have had no problem with their rabbit eating the material, but it’s really a ticking time bomb.

Don’t want to lug around heavy bags of pine? Well you can also just use hay! Hay won’t have as great absorbency, but it will get the job done. You may just find yourself changing the litter box more often.

Rabbits using a litter box is something we still very often get questions and surprise looks about. If you have any questions on how to litter box train your rabbit, or if your set up is safe, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

Thanks for being a perfect model, Dusk 🥹
