🌸 Zinnias from our garden for our friends at Canterbury Episcopal Church! 🌸

We’re so grateful to UA Canterbury Student Forum for their generous donation and continued support of our work. Each year, we’re proud to share hundreds of pounds of fresh, locally grown produce from our garden with Canterbury’s food pantry — helping nourish our neighbors and strengthen our community.

Partnerships like this are what community is all about: growing, giving, and caring for one another. 💐🌱

Thank you, Canterbury, for helping us keep good food growing and moving into the hands of our neighbors!

💚We Grow Kids💚Highlight! (Swipe for gardening tutorials!) Over the past month we have hosted 3 different youth groups:

🧑‍🌾 United Way of West Alabama chose us as one of the locations for their 2026-2027 Kindergarten Readiness calendar. Kiddos in their Tuscaloosa Success By 6 program toured our farm as they posed for pictures. The calendar contains STEM, Art, and Literacy activities that are free or low cost to do with with your child throughout the year. Its contents are aligned with the Alabama Standards for Early Learning and Development. To request a copy of the calendar email your name and address to [email protected].

🪴Boys and Girls Club Greensboro Unit joined us for some educational activities! Blueberries were in bloom, so the kiddos learned about plant pollination and fruit production and were able to taste the results! Then, they were shown how to turn a milk jug into a greenhouse. Everyone made their own, planted some seeds, and took them home!

🍐Forest Lake United Methodist Church brought their youth group to help us harvest over 300 pounds of pears! We couldn’t have done it without them! We also showed them our 3 sister’s garden bed and explained the history and functionality of the practice.

💚We are so thankful to play a part in bringing the natural world into children’s lives! Contact us at [email protected] if you’re interested in bringing a group to volunteer, tour the garden, and/or participate in a garden craft!

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Makenzie! We've been so grateful to have her as our (really awesome) intern and can't wait to see where she goes next! Roll Tide!

🌟 Student Spotlight 🌟

Meet Makenzie Pate, an Advanced Standing MSW student expected to graduate in August 2026!

This summer, Makenzie is completing her practicum placement with Jeremiah's Community Garden, where she is combining her passion for community engagement with hands-on social work experience.

Through her placement, Makenzie is developing a new program, preparing a grant application to support its implementation, and assessing the garden's accessibility to pursue funding opportunities that will make the space more accessible for volunteers.

By strengthening community resources and increasing accessibility, Makenzie's work is helping create opportunities for greater inclusion and engagement. We are proud to see her applying social work skills in innovative ways and making a meaningful impact through her practicum experience.

Our awesome intern Katy posing with a big ole zucchini — all this rain is growing ‘em faster than we can seem to pick ‘em (don’t worry, we got to most of them before they were too big!). The garden is loving this weather! Katy was a previous student in a UA New College course on gardening that was taught at our garden by the President of our Board, Leah!

🫜Come see us 9-11am this week (everyday except Sunday) if you’d like to lend a hand! We also have volunteer hours Wednesday 6-8pm! 🫛

⭐️Last week’s highlights + This week’s volunteer hours⭐️

❤️ nd students from Holy Spirit’s high school joined us on Saturday to help us harvest more plums and tend to our garden

🫛Over 100 pounds of beans were picked and donated to local food pantries

🌧️Much needed rain watered the garden this week.

👨🏿‍🌾Jeremiah’s head gardener and co-founder — Mr. Roy — shared stories of his childhood and how community and poverty inspired him to start the garden. He also shared some wise advice, “Don’t judge a person based on what others say about them, but on who you know them to be and what you see them do”

🥒Come volunteer with us this week! During volunteer hours there will be always be a garden volunteer lead to direct and assist you! We will continue harvesting and weeding. Comment or DM us with any questions!

Thanks to Way and Alabama ONE! This amazing group helped us get over 100 lbs of green beans to today!
