The Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation’s Vision is to eliminate su***de among all youth in West AL.

The Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation was created to carry on the memories and legacy of Kristen Amerson. Kristen was a young lady who loved fashion, creating unique hairstyles, experimenting with make-up, dancing, and a host of other activities. She exhibited a strong, loving, and caring attitude with a smile that brightened the day of loved ones and community members alike. On April 10, 2014, Kristen took her own life after struggling with bullying, and loved ones will always wonder what her life might have held. Kristen never got the chance to meet her potential, or to find her purpose, and her family vowed to keep her spirit alive, which is the inspiration for the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation. It is the purpose of the foundation is to provide early intervention, success-coaching, outreach, and advocacy services, to young men and women. The organization’s goal being to prevent su***de amongst youth and adolescents. The foundation will also work to provide services to increase awareness of su***de and bullying amongst the younger generation. It is our hope that these services will empower youth by providing educational support to ensure a more balanced and healthy life for local at-risk youth.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, a day to remember those we’ve lost, support those who are struggling, and remind one another that su***de prevention is something we can all be a part of.

At the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation, we believe prevention starts with connection, education, awareness, and making sure young people know they are not alone.

And we couldn’t do this work without you. 🤝

Because of the support of our community, we’ve been able to bring mental health education into schools, provide resources for students and families, create meaningful conversations, and continue reaching young people across our community with the message that their lives matter.
