β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š Juneteenth Holiday Hours β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š

In observance of Juneteenth, NETWorks Cooperative Ministry will be closed on Thursday, June 19.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is a day to reflect on freedom, resilience, hope, and the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality.

While our offices and pantry will be closed Thursday, we look forward to serving our neighbors again this weekend.

πŸ›’ The NETWorks Food Pantry will be OPEN:
πŸ“… Saturday, June 20
⏰ 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
πŸ“ 4296 Cowan Road, Tucker, GA 30084

We wish everyone a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth.

πŸ’œ Did You Know?

Fresh produce and protein can be some of the hardest grocery items for families to afford consistently.

Financial donations help NETWorks provide fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and proteins alongside pantry staples so neighbors have access to nutritious food options for their households.

Support also helps sustain Growings β€” the NETWorks hydroponic farm β€” where volunteers help grow fresh lettuce, herbs, cucumbers, tomatoes, and other produce that goes directly into the homes of neighbors served through our Client Choice Pantry. πŸ₯¬πŸ’œ

From seedling to pantry shelf, community support helps create healthier options, stronger families, and greater food access right here in Tucker.

✏️ What's the most important school supply?

A backpack?
A notebook?
A calculator?

We'd argue it's something you can't buy at the store:

πŸ’œ Confidence.

When students walk into the classroom prepared, they can focus on learning, making friends, and reaching their potential.

That's why NETWorks is already preparing for the Good Neighbor Back to School Shop.

Together, we're helping local students start the year ready to succeed.

πŸ“ˆ Groceries Cost More. Gas Costs More. Life Costs More.

Families across our community are feeling it.

Recent reports show inflation continues to impact household budgets, with rising costs for fuel, transportation, and foodβ€”including fruits and vegetables.

For many families, a single unexpected expense can mean making difficult choices:

πŸš— Gas or groceries?

πŸ’‘ Utility bill or fresh produce?

🏠 Rent or a trip to the grocery store?

That's where NETWorks comes in.

Our client-choice food pantry allows neighbors to select the foods that work best for their families, dietary needs, and cultural preferences. Instead of receiving a pre-packed box, parents can choose the items they know their families will eat and enjoy.

Every pound of food a family receives from NETWorks is money that can stay in their household budget for rent, utilities, transportation, medications, and other necessities.

Last year, NETWorks distributed more than 488,000 pounds of food, providing the equivalent of 406,836 meals to neighbors throughout our community.

The need continues to grow.

The good news? Your financial gift goes further than most people realize.

Because of our partnerships with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and local food donors, NETWorks can often acquire food at a fraction of retail costβ€”stretching every dollar donated into meals for local families.

πŸ’œ A monetary donation allows us to purchase exactly what is needed, when it is needed.

πŸ’œ It helps keep pantry shelves stocked.

πŸ’œ It helps families facing difficult choices put food on the table.

If you'd like to help a neighbor today:

Donate: https://www.networkscoop.org/donate

Together, we're making sure families don't have to choose between paying a bill and feeding their children.

πŸ’œ 108 Families. 3 Hours. One Community. πŸ’œ

On Friday, 108 families visited the NETWorks Food Pantry.

To some, that's just a number.

To us, it's 108 households trusting us to help put food on the table.

It's 108 opportunities to welcome a neighbor with dignity, hospitality, and love.

What does serving 108 families in just three hours look like behind the scenes?

πŸš— Volunteers arriving by 8:30 AM to monitor the parking lot, greet neighbors, and get coffee and hospitality supplies ready.

πŸ“¦ Volunteers in the warehouse unloading, sorting, and stocking shelves before the doors even open.

πŸ›’ Volunteers getting sweaty in the back making sure the shelves are stocked for Neighbor #1 and Neighbor #108.

πŸ“ Intake volunteers registering families and helping navigate questions.

πŸ’œ Volunteers staying well past their shifts to make sure every neighbor is greeted and served with dignity and love.

When the pantry opens at 10:00 AM, it may look effortless.

But that's only because dozens of volunteers have already spent hours preparing with compassion, commitment, and love.

Our staff of six simply couldn't do this alone.

Every stocked shelf, every shopping cart, every warm greeting, and every meal shared is made possible by volunteers who show up week after week to serve their neighbors.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers. You are the heart of NETWorks.

πŸŽ’ Remember the excitement of getting ready for a new school year?
A fresh notebook.
A new backpack.
Sharpened pencils.
The feeling that anything was possible.

The Good Neighbor Back to School Shop helps ensure children start the school year with the supplies they need and the confidence they deserve.

πŸ“¦πŸ’œ MOVING DAY AT NETWorks! πŸ’œπŸ“¦

Don't worryβ€”we're not moving our building!

But we are moving a few offices, reorganizing workspaces, and giving parts of NETWorks a much-needed deep clean.

Next Tuesday, we're putting our muscles (and our organizational skills!) to work as we help relocate the offices of Lillian, Justin, and Stephanie, reorganize supplies, and freshen up the spaces where so much of our work happens.

We could use a few extra helping hands!

🧹 Clean

πŸ“¦ Organize

πŸ’ͺ Move furniture and supplies

😊 Have fun serving alongside fellow volunteers

Whether you're a longtime volunteer or looking for a one-time opportunity to help, we'd love to have you join us.

πŸ’œ Did You Know?

If you are age 70Β½ or older, you may be able to support NETWorks through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA β€” sometimes called giving through your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

A QCD allows eligible individuals to make a direct gift from an IRA to a qualified nonprofit like NETWorks, which may provide potential tax benefits while helping neighbors in our community.

And while year-end may feel far away, June is actually a GREAT time to begin planning:
βœ”οΈ Avoid year-end financial stress
βœ”οΈ Speak with your financial advisor early
βœ”οΈ Ensure gifts are processed smoothly before deadlines
βœ”οΈ Thoughtfully plan charitable giving for the year ahead

These gifts help support food assistance, emergency financial aid, transportation support, and long-term stability programs for neighbors facing difficult seasons.

If you would like more information about giving through an IRA or RMD, we would be happy to connect with you. πŸ’œ
