We are honored to receive an award at Congressman Hank Johnson’s fourth annual Week of H.O.P.E. ceremony.

Thank you, Congressman Johnson, for recognizing Habitat for Humanity DeKalb and for highlighting the organizations working to create stronger, more vibrant communities.

Through affordable homeownership, critical home repairs, and housing education, we help families find more than a place to live. We help create a foundation for strength, stability, and a brighter future.

We are deeply grateful to be among the organizations turning hope into action across Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District. This recognition encourages us to keep building homes, opening doors to opportunity, and helping families and neighborhoods thrive throughout DeKalb County.

Another great day on the build site with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta! Their second volunteer group brought plenty of energy and teamwork to Habitat for Humanity DeKalb as they continued helping move a future home forward.

The team completed the base of the back deck and tackled important priming and painting work. We’re grateful to everyone from FHLBank Atlanta who gave their time, skills, and enthusiasm to support our mission. Thank you again for your partnership and including us in your August Mission Month 🔨💚

lWe were thrilled to welcome the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta back to Habitat for Humanity DeKalb! After having such a meaningful and enjoyable volunteer experience with us last year, their team shared great feedback and was excited to return and continue supporting our mission.

During today’s build, their employees helped paint the exterior walls of a new home and began working on the back deck, making important progress toward creating a safe place for a local family to call home. Their willingness to stay engaged with Habitat and bring more employees together for volunteer opportunities, like their August Mission Month, reflects the lasting impact of a strong community partnership.

Thank you to our first group from FDHLBA for showing up, working hard, and helping build brighter futures in DeKalb County 🏠💙

We attended Habitat for Humanity and HFHI U.S. Safety Team’s collaborative Construction Safety Stand Down in honor of OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week! Habitat DeKalb’s Volunteer Coordinator Chelsea, along with Construction Crew members Bobby and Michael, got to join in on this day of learning and collaboration 🚧

This class featured training, interactive VR Hazard Identification, and multiple construction safety roundtables focused on peer problem-solving and risk management, plus a construction site visit.

A big thank you to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and the U.S. Safety Team for bringing Georgia construction professionals together to strengthen our commitment to building safely. An amazing time connecting with other Habitat peers.

When you donate a vehicle to Cars for Homes, the proceeds can support funding for programs like Aging in Place, Habitat for Humanity’s initiative that helps older adults remain in their homes by providing critical repairs, accessibility modifications, and connections to community resources that aid in sustaining healthy, independent living.

We know that when seniors can age safely at home, they’re more likely to stay connected to loved ones, maintain their health, and enjoy a higher quality of life.

Last weekend, Emory University Medical Graduate students helped build a ramp for a local senior with mobility needs. Ms. Banks, who uses a walker and cane, and sometimes a wheelchair, will be able to easily get in and out of the home with less strain and safer transitions between levels.

They finished the project shortly after it started the day prior through the State Farm effort, completing a concrete, immediate improvement for the senior and their daily routine with Habitat for Humanity DeKalb. Swipe all the way to the end to see the finished ramp ➡️

Today, State Farm employees volunteered with Habitat for Humanity DeKalb to help a senior with home accessibility and safety upgrades. The team started by building a ramp which included digging and moving dirt, marking where the support posts would go, digging the post holes, cutting, assembling and fitting the wood framing, and installing the frame of the ramp.

They also installed grab bars in the bathroom, which helps seniors maintain balance and have support when getting in and out of the shower and using the toilet. This reduces the risk of slips and making daily routines easier.

To round out the safety upgrades, they installed smoke detectors for early warning and added peace of mind for the household.

Lunch was provided by Bell Street Burritos, helping fuel everyone’s energy!
