The Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council is now accepting applications for the Frank Cruice Innovation in Safety & Health Award, recognizing poultry and egg industry organizations that are advancing workplace safety and health through innovative practices, programs or technologies.

Open to members of the National Chicken Council (NCC), National Turkey Federation (NTF) and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY), the award honors companies that have demonstrated a significant advancement in operational excellence through a safety or health innovation that helps create safer, healthier workplaces across the poultry and egg industry.

Award applications are open for several industry categories, including Poultry Processing, Poultry & Egg Production, Animal Feed Manufacturing, Animal Support Services, and Rendering. An award will be issued for innovations in both processes and equipment.

The application deadline is October 9! 🏆

THE FUTURE STARTS HERE: APPLY FOR THE 2027 IPPE YOUNG LEADERS UNDER 30 AWARD

Applications are now open for the 15th annual International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) Young Leaders Under 30 Award, a program designed to recognize the next generation of industry leaders by giving them opportunities to build connections, expand their knowledge, and experience the industry’s latest innovations!

Eligible applicants must be employed by a company involved in poultry or meat production or processing, or animal food manufacturing, and their company must be a member of the AFIA, Meat Institute or USPOULTRY. Through the program, recipients have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, explore cutting-edge technologies and solutions, and gain greater exposure to the people and ideas shaping the future of their industries.

Interested applicants must submit their applications by Monday, Sept. 28. Each member organization may nominate up to two candidates. 📍 Destin, FL | National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry

The Joint Poultry Industry Safety & Health Council recognized a record 272 chicken and turkey facilities for outstanding safety performance at the 2026 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry! The facilities were honored for their commitment to employee safety and health through the implementation of innovative and effective programs.

Award consideration was based on injury statistics from a three-year period (2023–2025) and a review of written applications evaluated by academic and industry safety experts.

The Joint Industry Safety & Health Council consists of members from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council and National Turkey Federation. Collectively, the three organizations represent companies that produce 95% of the nation's poultry products and directly employ more than 350,000 workers.

The Foundation Research Advisory Committee (FRAC) met this week to review full proposals submitted for the 2026 Comprehensive Research Competition. The committee also nominated the next recipient of the Dr. Charles Beard Research Excellence Award, approved updates to the USPOULTRY 2026–2028 Research Priorities, and discussed potential topics for the Board Research Initiative program.

USPOULTRY recently welcomed representatives from our state affiliate associations, as well as department heads and assistant department heads from the Big Six poultry science schools in the United States, to our annual meeting. Together, we shared updates on the latest challenges, opportunities, and emerging issues impacting the poultry and egg industry across the country.

These conversations strengthen collaboration between industry and academia, helping ensure USPOULTRY continues to serve our members with relevant programs, research, recruitment and resources that reflect the needs of every region.
