Miami Valley Veterans Museum Founded in 2009 the Miami Valley Veterans Museum's Mission is to Honor, Preserve and Perpetuate the legacy of veterans.
(1)

Our purpose is first and foremost, to honor and preserve the memory of local veterans through a museum dedicated to their contributions, to create and protect the freedoms that we as Americans enjoy. To serve as an educational tool that teaches youth about our military involvement throughout the world, and finally to provide a unique tourist hot spot in Miami County.

Is Hospice in Your Future?

We move along not realizing that as we age, our bodies begin to decline. Nothing has prepared us for disease, shortness of breath, falls, or cognitive decline. In the U.S. we have been conditioned to believe that every health ailment can be addressed in a positive way, if only we get to the proper doctor.

At times, however, this is not the case. The word “Hospice” enters the scene. On October 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the Miami Valley Veterans Museum, at 2245 South County Road 25-A in Troy, Jaime Brown, U.S. Air Force veteran (1994-1999) and Ohio Hospice Community Outreach Liaison for palliative and outreach service, will speak to the issue.

Her topics will cover the following issues: (1) the process of making a decision on Hospice. This is the first challenge, especially if we or a family member is in denial about illness. (2) Once a decision has been made to consider Hospice, the next step is exploring the options. Important to this step is knowledge of what those options are. They can be complicated in terms of the illness and the number and quality of caregivers in the home who are able and willing to assist. The decision on signing up and continuing comes third.

The doors to the museum open at 8 a.m. and free refreshments are served beginning at 8:30. Veterans and friends and family of veterans are welcome to attend. For further information, call Executive Director Ron Sherrill at the museum at (937) 332-8852 on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m..

TROY, OH — Coins, currency and community spirit will come together on Saturday, November 7, 2026, when Kingston’s Koins of Troy hosts a special online fundraiser benefiting the Miami Valley Veterans Museum.
Beginning at 3 p.m., Kingston’s Koins will broadcast live from inside the Miami Valley Veterans Museum for a special Whatnot coin auction. The event is online only and will be featured exclusively on Whatnot; it is not an in-person auction at the museum.
Community Donations Needed
Leading up to the fundraiser, Kingston’s Koins is asking local collectors, families and community members to consider donating coins or currency to be included in the auction.
Whether it is a single coin, an inherited collection, duplicate pieces or currency that has been sitting away for years, donated items can help turn someone's collection into meaningful support for the museum.
The fundraiser brings together two things that are all about preserving history — coin collecting and honoring the men and women who have served our country.
Supporting a Local Mission
The Miami Valley Veterans Museum is dedicated to honoring, preserving and perpetuating the legacy of Miami Valley veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Troy museum preserves military history through artifacts, photographs, personal belongings, letters, documents and the stories of veterans from the Miami Valley and beyond.
The museum also serves as a gathering place for veterans and the community, helping educate future generations about the sacrifices and service of those who have worn the uniform.
For Kingston’s Koins, supporting the museum is another way to give back to the community that has supported its growing coin-collecting family.
“We’re here to serve the community” is at the heart of the fundraiser. Kingston’s Koins hopes collectors and supporters will come together to make November 7 a successful event for the museum.
Be Part of the Kingston’s Koins Family
The fundraiser is open to everyone, whether you're a longtime coin collector or simply someone who wants to support a great local cause.
Viewers will be able to join the auction from anywhere through Whatnot, bid on coins and currency, share the event with friends and help spread the word about the Miami Valley Veterans Museum.
New to Whatnot? You can sign up using the Kingston’s Koins referral link:

Our nation changed forever on September 11, 2001. Many Americans remember a country before and a country after, and for many young Americans, only a country after. Help us remember the tragic loss of life at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and thoes who displayed the best qualities and determination of America in a quiet field in southern Pennsylvania. American identity, patriotism, security, and service that will resonate for generations.

DO YOU KNOW? Fire Safety Issues

Do you know that if you throw your 9-volt battery in your kitchen trash, you can start a fire or that your child’s bedroom door on the second floor should be closed at night or that your I phone or laptop can ignite?

Are your families’ bedrooms on the second floor? Did you know that you should have a fire ladder in each bedroom? Do you know what one is and where to buy it and what it costs? Has a visitor to your home ever extinguished a cigarette in one of your potted plants? In addition to rudeness, this is an outright no-no.

Lyle Bolin, Troy fire inspector/investigator, firefighter, and paramedic knows the answers to these question and so many more with training from Sinclair Community College and certification as a fire inspector/investigator from the Ohio Fire Academy. Bolin is the featured speaker on September 2, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the Miami Valley Veterans Museum at 2234 South County Road 25-A, and the public is invited.

Bolin says, “I am responsible for all of Troy and that includes 1700 business. I inspect the businesses for alarms, extinguishers, and general safety. I check breaker boxes and other electrical devices and do community outreach to educate. And Bolin, unlike many speakers, welcomes interruptions as audience member think of a question/situation for which they want/need an answer.

With a firm commitment to service to the Troy area, Bolin wants veterans in the audience to know of his family’s service. He is proud of his father, Keith Bolin, a U.S. Army combat medic in Vietnam and his grandfather, Cliff Bolin, a World War II U.S. Marine machine gunner who fought in Guadalcanal.

Bolin will arrive at the museum at 8 a.m. with two medics from his team who will be taking vital signs of veterans and their guests, Participants may have all tests taken or as many as they like in a private office. The tests, available from 8 until 9 a.m., are the following: blood pressure reading, pulse rate, oxygen saturation in blood, and blood sugar (which requires the prick of a finger).
Refreshments of coffee, water, and pastries will be served beginning at 8:30. Call the museum with questions: 937.332.8852.
