Congratulations to Aurora and the Detroit School of Arts Concert Choir on their selection to perform at the 2027 National ACDA Conference. You can catch the Detroit School of Arts Concert Choir performing at the ACDA Michigan Fall Conference this October 9-10. Register today!

The Northwestern Michigan College’s Aurora is a treble ensemble composed of college students, recent graduates, and singers from the greater Traverse City community. Our members bring a wide range of choral experience, united by a shared love of music and a commitment to artistic excellence. The ensemble rehearses two evenings per week, fostering not only musical growth but also a close-knit community of support and friendship. Aurora performs regularly throughout the region, appearing in concert venues, community events, and collaborative performances with the Traverse City Philharmonic Orchestra. The ensemble is dedicated to exploring a broad and adventurous repertoire, and we are especially passionate about championing the work of living composers and bringing fresh, meaningful music to Northern Michigan audiences.

The Detroit School of Arts Concert Choir is the premier vocal ensemble of the Grammy Award-winning Detroit School of Arts in Midtown Detroit. Comprising advanced vocal music majors, the ensemble represents the highest standard of choral artistry, scholarship, and leadership. Under the direction of Julian J. Goods, the choir consistently earns Superior I ratings at MSVMA Festivals and received top honors at the 2025 WorldStrides Heritage Festival, including Best Concert Choir and the Choral Sweepstakes Award. The ensemble is the 2026 MSVMA Outstanding Choir of the Year and performed at the 2026 Midwestern ACDA Region Conference. They have collaborated with the Detroit and Lansing Symphony Orchestras and the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club, with appearances at the Kennedy Center, Michigan Youth Arts Festival, and Abyssinian Baptist Church.
