Wendy and DB will be joining us this Saturday morning at the Woodmere Library, with a concert starting at 11. For more on Wendy and DB, please see below:

Wendy & DB, an award-winning kindie duo from Chicago, with two guitars, a ukulele, and their voices, write and perform songs about science, nature, diversity, animals, safety, and the arts. Their unique style is reflected in the music and catchy lyrics along with their vocal harmonies. They examine the world with curiosity and what you experience is just plain fun! Wendy and DB’s live shows for pre-school age children and families explore a variety of instruments and joyful props that get everyone moving, singing, and dancing. Wendy and DB write their songs with inclusion, diversity, love, kindness, and family values.

Traverse City Light & Power is hosting their annual Public Power Coloring Contest. All children in 1st - 3rd grades are invited to participate and the winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card. Families can pick up the sign-up form and coloring sheet in the Youth Services department at the Main Library. You can bring the forms back to the library by October 2nd and TCL&P will pick them up here.

We are saddened by Dolly's passing recently, but are so grateful to the legacy she left, both artistically and in terms of all the books children have received from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. What fun we had making solar ovens with the Groundwork Center last Thursday. We all got into the real science of solar energy- and the total yumminess of s'mores!!

We had a great time learning to be outdoor survivalists with the Woodsy Dude on Tuesday. Attendees received a starter survival kit, built overnight shelters, learned how to use mirrors to signal others, created paths using outdoor items, and much more. Thanks to everyone who came out on this beautiful day for some outdoor ingenuity!

What a literal BLAST we had yesterday with our Foam (Dance) Party at the Grand Traverse Civic Center. A big thank you to Tip Top Entertainment for providing boatloads of foam and fun music and to the Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation for the providing the water, power and space for all of this. What a way to finish our Thursday programming during Summer Reading Club!

Thursday's Wacky Foam Party at the Grand Traverse Civic Center has two important updates:

- First, the start time has been moved back to 1:30 pm.
- Second, the Foam Party location will now be in front of the Civic Center building at the north end of the park.

Look for the colorful TADL tent outside the Civic Center (YMCA) building at 1:30 pm on Thursday.

Many fierce and fun dinos were created our Make Something: Make a Dino program yesterday. The creators started out with some dino books for inspiration, moved on to a sketch of their ideas, and brought them to life with the (seemingly) endless craft supplies from our Maker Cart. A good time was had by all our happy creators!

We love our outdoor programs in Youth Services but the weather has not been cooperating on Tuesdays this summer. Our Clubhouse: Craft and Play will be indoors today in the Youth Services department from 10 am - 12 noon. Today's special craft is marshmallow and straw dinos.
