A recent photo was shared showing one of our squirrels, which we think has been fed by humans. Now it is coming around looking for handouts from everyone.
Please don't feed wildlife. Let them stay wild!
That especially applies to waterfowl.
Health Risks for the Birds
Malnutrition: Bread acts like junk food. It fills the birds' stomachs with empty carbohydrates, leaving no room for the nutrient-rich insects, seeds, and plants they need.
Angel Wing: A high-carbohydrate, low-protein diet can cause a permanent and often fatal wing deformity in growing ducklings called "angel wing," which stops them from flying.
Disease and Mold: Moldy bread left on the ground or in the water can cause fatal lung infections in waterfowl.
