At one Ektrepho service, a nurse was doing routine medical checkups. As she was taking someone’s blood pressure in the room, she was singing along to "How Great Thou Art." Afterward, she was treating more seniors in the hall by the nurses’ stations; once she was through with their medical check, she just wheeled them into the service (still singing the entire time)!
This moment is a powerful reminder that Ektrepho worship services touch not only the hearts of the seniors, but the staff as well. By uplifting everyone in the home, these services create an atmosphere of joy and encouragement for the entire senior community. May God continue to use Ektrepho in this way to bless as many lives as possible for His glory!

When attending church, we often hear about the vital importance of missions, whether it is the 10/40 window, supporting overseas missionaries, or reaching people groups who have never heard the Gospel. This is an incredibly important ministry. But, we cannot limit our definition of missions in a narrow sense. I would also encourage you to think about the mission opportunities right in your own backyard.
There is a significant unreached people group throughout St. Louis and St. Charles County. Many of the seniors who have moved into assisted living facilities no longer have the ability to attend church and hear the word of God. Sadly, once moving into these homes, they are not reached with the Gospel. So, it is essential to take worship services directly to them, so that they have consistent opportunities to hear God's Word. For some seniors, this may even be their first real opportunity to hear the Gospel. So, as we seek to have a missional mindset, we cannot neglect this amazing group of individuals! I pray God continues to empower Ektrepho to reach those in our local assisted living communities.

Hymns can be so impactful since they communicate Biblical truths through music. It is so wonderful to see our seniors sing along to their favorite hymns! Dean always smiles and taps his feet whenever I do a specific strum called palm muting on the guitar. Kimmy always asks for me to lead Amazing Grace. Frances, who is 100 years old, is always happy to sing and tells me stories of when she was a church organist.
These moments remind us of the incredible ways God uses singing timeless hymns to touch hearts and bring joy to the seniors we serve. Through Ektrepho, these simple musical moments become profound opportunities to share God's truth and love with seniors who need it most!

At one of our assisted living facilities, a staff member drew this picture on a white board in the activities room for the seniors. As a Winnie the Pooh fan, I love it. As a self-proclaimed Eeyore to all the other Eeyores out there, it is definitely a message we need to hear. Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

I can’t say it enough…I love hearing what our volunteers say about their senior visits. These moments are a tangible way to share God’s love.
Karen loved having a visitor, expressing how it is nice to change up her rhythm since her life feels like it’s the same old thing day in and day out since moving into assisted living. Karen enjoyed sharing about her favorite music, but she also opened up about a sad tragedy within her family.
Similarly, Georgette expressed how she missed her deceased husband and son, crying over the loneliness she feels. Having lost interest in doing many social activities, having someone to talk with made her day.
So, whether they share their pain and sadness or get excited to discuss their favorite hobbies, God is present in these moments with our seniors and volunteers. I pray He continues to nourish their souls through these growing friendships.

God always has a perfect plan, whether we see it or understand it or not. Senior visits were not originally a part of Ektrepho’s plan. We simply saw a need and did our best to respond. Our desire is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, provide spiritual nourishment, and show God’s love through meaningful, relational connections within our local assisted living homes.
Because this initiative developed naturally out of a clear need, it was not included in our 2026 budget. We do provide a small compensation to cover time and gas for our amazing volunteers for each visit. If this ministry resonates with your heart, we would humbly invite you to consider donating to help support this expansion. We fully trust that God will provide for this work, and we ask that you prayerfully consider if He might be leading you to be a part of that provision.

I am blown away by the stories our volunteers share from their senior visits. This aspect of Ektrepho’s ministry is relatively new, and yet God is touching hearts already through these personal connections. We love sharing these stories with you!
Joyce shared that due to a negative experience in her past, she has been soured toward the church. When our volunteer assured Joyce that she was just there to visit and share God’s love, Joyce opened up immediately. She loved talking about her family, cross stitching, and how to make dolls.
Another senior, Nancy, readily opened up about herself and her life. After that, she and our volunteer enjoyed a nice game of bingo together, even though they both lost. Just having someone spend time with her really brightened her mood. Similarly, Shirley shared so many life stories, talked about her grandson, and showed off her family photos.
Ektrepho is showing God’s love through these relationships by taking interest in our seniors’ daily lives and allowing them to spend time with a godly individual when they feel all alone. I am excited to be able to share even more updates and stories as the weeks progress!
