Our mission is to meet the most basic of human needs - food, shelter and hope.

Our goal is to end homelessness and hunger by giving those in need the tools, resources and confidence needed to gain back their independence.

Absolutely criminal…….

Police are investigating after a homeless community in Milford reportedly faced weeks of verbal harassment and physical attacks, something advocates say is part of a pattern of increasing hate toward unhoused people.

Sharing this story, and the desperation of the folks we serve at the FISH Food Pantry. We’ve grown by over 1000 neighbors in need over this past year - now serving around 3000 people/1000+ families. Food donations really help, yet so do financial donations. We are writing grants to purchase food year round to keep our shelves full and our families fed.

Thank you to the Connecticut Community Foundation for sharing this information. Local families have felt the impact of losing SNAP benefits for a variety of reasons. Our work to support our community is that much more important.

FISH is so very grateful for BLN Golf Tournament’s support!

The BLN Charity Golf Tournament celebrated its 26th year running! Thank you to all our volunteers, those who donated, our partner in this event, Northwest Community Bank, and the incredible charities who support our communities! This year we raised $35,000, bringing our 26 year total to $740,000!

100% of the funds raised goes directly to 5 local charities that serve the most vulnerable in our communities: Susan B. Anthony Project, FISH / Friends in Service to Humanity of Northwestern Connecticut, Inc., McCall Behavioral Health Network, The Community Kitchen of Torrington, and the Open Door of Winsted.

Last Friday, FISH held another food drive in Torrington. Once again, Stop & Shop generously allowed us to set up. This time, we were blessed to have volunteers from M&T Bank - Rosa, Ashley, Ryan, and Ben, as well as FISH helpers Mark, Holly, Sharon, and Fiona - plus Dan. We are always impressed by the generous hearts in our community.

FISH was excited to organize volunteers for a food drive in front of Stop & Shop in Torrington, in support of United Way's Stock The Shelves program, which provides groceries for food pantries in the region. This was part of the United Way Week of Caring, 2026. Thank you to our volunteers, Stop & Shop, and to everyone who contributes to our food drive! We are grateful for the generosity of our community in Northwest CT!

Hubbell Power Systems, with a branch in Winsted CT, had wonderful employees who rallied a food drive to benefit FISH as well as Salvation Army food pantry in Winsted.
We are so grateful to have such generous community partners, who we depend on to provide for our neighbors, as the cost of living soars.
