Some traditions are worth holding onto...

11 years ago, a few people stood on the side of the road with signs and a message of hope. They had no idea how many lives that simple act would go on to touch.

Yesterday, Sign Day was a reminder of where we started, why we started, and the power of showing up for one another.

11 years ago, it started with a few signs, a simple message, and a belief that kindness could change someone's life.

Before Team Recovery had buildings, programs, or treatment centers, there was Matt Bell and a group of people standing on the side of the road, holding signs to remind complete strangers that they mattered.

That simple act of spreading hope became the foundation of everything Team Recovery is today.

11 years later, we're still showing up. Still holding signs. Still reminding people that they are loved, they are not alone, and recovery is possible.

11 years ago today, Matt Bell made a decision that would change more lives than he could have ever imagined.

But the road to October 15, 2015, was anything but easy...

Nine years of addiction. 28 treatment attempts. Three overdoses. Homelessness. Broken relationships. Moments when it seemed like there was no way out.

Today, Matt is celebrating 11 years of sobriety.

He's a husband, a father of three, a son, a friend, and the Founder and CEO of Team Recovery. But perhaps the most powerful part of his story isn't everything he's accomplished since getting sober.

It's that there was a time when none of it seemed possible.

What started as one man's desire to give back has grown into a community of people helping others find their way out of the same darkness he once knew.

And none of it would exist without that first step.

This is more than a story about 11 years of sobriety. It's a reminder that no one is too far gone, that another chance can change everything, and that the life waiting on the other side of addiction is worth fighting for.

Matt, thank you for never forgetting where you came from and for using your story to remind others that recovery is possible.

11 years sober. Countless lives impacted. And a story that's still being written.
