Tipton County Foundation Growing, Leading, and Serving Since 1986

The Tipton County Foundation, the local Community Foundation, is a tax-exempt, nonprofit, autonomous, publicly supported, nonsectarian philanthropic institution. Founded in 1986 and guided by civic-spirited Volunteers, its long-term goal is the building of permanent, named component funds established by many separate donors to carry out their charitable intent. The Foundation exists for the broad-based philanthropic interests of and community benefit of residents of the defined geographic area of Tipton County, Indiana.

An endowment is a permanent fund established to support charitable causes over the long term. The original gift (principal) is invested and preserved, while a portion of the investment earnings is distributed each year to meet community needs—allowing the fund to last forever. While there are minimum amounts required to create a fund, our staff will work with you to determine the best way to get started. Currently, TCF matches the first $2,000 to all endowed funds dollar for dollar each year. In addition, thanks to another generous donor, all unrestricted gifts to current or new funds are matched $3 for every $1—making your impact go even further. Call Dawn at 765.675.1942 to learn more.

🌾 Happy National Farmer Day! 🌾

Today, the Tipton County Foundation is celebrating the farmers and agricultural families who have helped grow our community in more ways than one.

Without farmers, our world would be without the food we eat, the fuel that powers our lives, and the fiber used to make so many of the products we depend on every day. Agriculture is essential to our way of life, and we are grateful for the families who work tirelessly to keep it growing.

Throughout the years, the generosity of agricultural families has also advanced TCF’s mission of helping Tipton County grow, lead, and serve. Gifts from farm families have created lasting legacies, supported local nonprofits, strengthened educational opportunities, and provided resources to meet our community’s changing needs.

One especially meaningful part of our history is our very own TCF building, which Pioneer Seed generously donated as a gift to the community in the 1990s. Today, the building continues to serve Tipton County as both the home of the Foundation and a gathering space for many local nonprofit groups working to make our community stronger.

Agriculture has always been about planting seeds, nurturing growth, and investing in the future. We see those same values reflected in the generosity of our local farmers and farm families, whose gifts continue to make a difference throughout Tipton County.

To our farmers: Thank you for feeding us, fueling our world, and helping our community flourish. Your hard work and generosity are making a difference today and for generations to come. 💚

Did you know? When you make an unrestricted gift to the Tipton County Foundation, your impact automatically grows through our 3:1 Unrestricted Match Program — meaning every $1 becomes $4 for our community.

So, what is an unrestricted gift?

An unrestricted gift is endowed to support the changing needs of Tipton County for generations to come. Unlike designated funds, unrestricted gifts give TCF the flexibility to respond to future opportunities and challenges — including needs we may not even see today.

You can also make a pledge payable through 2030, making it easier to create a lasting impact over time. Gifts of grain also qualify for the 3:1 match program, offering another meaningful way for our agricultural community to give back.

Your generosity helps ensure we can continue strengthening our community, now and in the future.

Call our staff today to learn more.

Education has the power to change lives—and legacy gifts make that impact last forever.

We’re honored to share the story behind the Daniel J. and Mary Agnes Mattingly Scholarship Fund at the Tipton County Foundation. Created through a bequest at the time of Dan Mattingly’s passing, this scholarship will support continuing education for graduating seniors from any Tipton County high school, with special consideration for students who have experienced foster care or are no longer living with their birth parents.

Dan Mattingly was more than a community leader—he was a founding Board Member of TCF, a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, farmer, businessman, and a lifelong champion of education and service. Alongside his wife, Mary Agnes “Tommie” Mattingly, Dan believed deeply in giving back and lifting others up. This scholarship ensures their compassion and generosity will continue opening doors for students facing real challenges.

💡 Why it matters: Because one scholarship can mean stability, opportunity, and hope for a student who needs it most. And because legacy gifts like this strengthen Tipton County—not just today, but for generations to come.
