Tipton Professional Fire Fighter Local 1979 members had their annual Christmas dinner and awards this past weekend. We would like to thank our amazing sponsors this year for all their support and proceeds.
Century 21 Scheetz- Lisa Pore-Stokes Bear, Red Diamond General Contracting- Kyle Byrd, Encompass Federal Credit Union- Tipton, First Farmers Bank and Trust- Tipton.

This year we were able to have a catered meal and it was provided by Blue Smoke BBQ out of Cicero and it was amazing. Thank you for smoking the meat in 20 degree weather in the middle of a snow event. Thin-Blue Line Rentals- for providing bounce house and obstacle course for the kids/adults.

Kempton, IN — Today, November 30, at approximately 16:19, TFD Engine 10 and Medic 10 were dispatched as automatic aid with Kempton Fire & Rescue to the 300-block of S. Elm Street for a structure fire. While en route, dispatch advised a detached garage was well-involved. Kempton Fire & Rescue arrived on scene and officially marked it a working fire.

TFD E10 arrived on scene shortly after and assisted with fire suppression and overhaul operations. Two residential structures nearby the garage suffered heat damage. Units were on scene working for approximately 1.5 hours. Ladder 10 was requested for additional manpower but later disregarded while en route. No civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

This serves as an appropriate time to always double check your portable heating systems and have them placed a safe distance away from combustible materials.

The town of Tipton hosted trick or treat on Thursday and Friday. Both A Shift and B shift were on duty. The crews on these two days had a blast seeing all the kiddos having fun and getting all the candy their little hearts desired. Thanks to all that came to visit us. Sparky even made and appearance and mingled with all the trick or
Treaters!! Feel free to share with us any of your pictures that you took with us. We love seeing the kiddos having fun and being kids ! Also if you would like your pumpkin that you decorated please come pick it up. It will soon be time to decorate for the next
Big holiday.

Earlier this month Tipton Fire department had the privilege of hosting our first Annual Decorate the Fire House event. We think it was a huge success. We would like to thank several local business that were able to donate 75 pumpkins that kids were able to decorate and take with them or leave it and let the whole town enjoy their creativity. Local 1979 would like to thank Tims 1, Quick Cup, and East Street Provisions. We would also like to share some photos with the community as well of the event. The Tipton Fire department would like to thank all those who participated to make this such a huge event. We loved having you all out and helping us Make the Fire House a bit more festive.

Tipton Fire Department will be accepting applications until December 5, 2025 for the position(s) of FF/EMT or FF/Paramedic.
-1977 Retirement Fund
-Lateral hires accepted with a 1:1 credit
-EMS and fire certification pay
-Up to 16 days off in first year
-Low cost health, vision, and dental insurance

On September 18 2025 members of B shift and Sparky from the Tipton Fire Department were invited to the Tipton County Public Library for “Story Time with a Firefighter”. Members read 2 stories and gave a fire safety demonstration to the children (and parents). The children (and parents) were also given a tour of Engine 10 to show what equipment firefighters use on the various types of incidents they respond to.

We want to thank everyone who attended story time and the staff at the library for inviting our members to be apart of this event! Public outreach and fire safety education is a vital part of what we do as firefighters to help protect the public.

During Pork fest the Tipton Fire Department participated in a fundraiser called “Fill the Boot”

This fundraiser help kids with Muscular Dystrophy.

Thanks to all of you we were able to raise just over $1400 in just a few hours. We also had a little help from Sparky. Sparky walked around the festival and took pictures with the citizens of Tipton county. If you have any pictures of you with Sparky we would love you to share them with us.
