Good morning, everyone!
Let’s have a little chat, because there seems to be some confusion surrounding Kringle, and we want to clear a few things up.
First and foremost, we would NEVER, under ANY circumstances, send one of our dogs to CACC. Kringle is our responsibility, and that responsibility does not disappear because circumstances become difficult.
When we closed our building, Kringle went with one of our former employees to a pet boarding and daycare facility where she was working. We thought this was a wonderful arrangement! The facility had experience fostering dogs for other rescue organizations in situations similar to ours, and most importantly, Kringle would still be cared for by someone from our own team.
For a few months, everything seemed to be going well.
Unfortunately, things took a turn. The woman who had planned to take Kringle had another opportunity arise and could no longer commit. Rather than communicating with us and following our rescue’s policies and procedures, someone in a leadership position at the facility decided to contact CACC about taking Kringle because they had been unable to find him a home.
Let us be VERY clear. That decision was NEVER made, discussed, or authorized by Fidos K9 Society.
Thankfully, our former employee, who had since moved on to another position, learned what was happening and immediately went to get him. To say she was furious would be an understatement. She knew this was absolutely NOT how we operate, and she wasn’t about to let that happen to Kringle.
And here’s the most important part of this entire story:
KRINGLE IS SAFE. ❤️
He is currently with Kiki and her family, surrounded by people who love him and are making sure he is cared for.
We understand that rescue is complicated. We understand that circumstances change and sometimes arrangements don’t work out. But what we will never understand or accept is someone making a decision about one of our dogs without contacting us first.
We have worked far too hard, sacrificed far too much, and made far too many promises to these animals to simply walk away when things get inconvenient.
Kringle was never abandoned by Fidos. He was never surrendered to CACC by Fidos. And he will ALWAYS have a rescue standing behind him.
To Kiki who stepped in without hesitation, thank you. Truly. You did exactly what we would have expected from someone who understands what rescue is supposed to be.
And to everyone who has been concerned about Kringle, thank you for caring enough to ask.
Once a Fido, ALWAYS a Fido. 💜🐾
