Yesterday, Congresswoman Robin Kelly, Commissioner Donna Miller, State Senator Michael E. Hastings, Homewood Mayor Rich Hofeld, Chief Christine Haley, Illinois' Chief Homelessness Officer, CN Railroad, SSPADS Board members, funders, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who joined us celebrated an exciting milestone for our ribbon cutting of our new location in Homewood!

Our new location increases South Suburban PADS' ability to serve more individuals and families experiencing homelessness across the Southland area and continue connecting families to the support they need on their journey to stability.

We are so grateful for the support that makes this work possible. Together, we’re expanding our reach and building a stronger future for our community. ❤️

THANKS TO OUR DONORS, COMMUNITY AND SUPPORTERS! 😁 Last Thursday, we were able to serve approximately 60 families in total at our Back-to-School Community Family Resource Fair at New Faith International Baptist Church in Matteson. Some were our shelter clients, housing guests, and some were walk-ins from word of mouth. We provided the following services: free shopping from New Faith’s Resale Clothing Store and barber services. We also offered breakfast and lunch to clients and vendors.

Everyone ate, danced, won prizes, and had a great time. We had several vendors in attendance: Sertoma Star Services, Proactive Community Services, National Black Nurses Association - Illinois South Suburban Chapter, The Link & Option Center, Inc. Carrie Cares Mobile Clinic, Access Community Health Network, and many more. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success.

Due to the recent power outages and so many families' losing food—and in some cases even their homes—we have experienced an overwhelming increase in people coming to us for assistance.

We are urgently in need of:
🥪 Sandwiches (ready to eat)
🍎 Individually wrapped snacks
🥤 Bottled water
🍱 Prepared meals
🥫 Nonperishable food items

Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. If you’re able to help, please reach out or drop off donations. Together, we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry during this difficult time.
