Master Gardeners had a real treat when Brian (former Extension Commercial Agent) and Gloria Tuck stopped by our booth at the Goldendale Home and Garden Show today!

The wind is preventing us from laying out a full spread but we have a ton of free seeds, coloring pages for kids, and lots of great gardening information for you! Come see us!

Whew! The seeds for the Garden Expo have been sorted and packed away for next year. If you missed out on free seeds, don’t worry! I pulled out a ton of great seeds that we will be packaging up to have out for free at all of the places we will have an info table this spring and summer.

First up will be the wildflowers and watershed event at the Discovery Center in May and then we get right into Farmer’s Market season. If you have an event that you think a Master Gardener table of growing information and free seeds would go well with, please reach out! Wow!!! We had 445 people come through the 4th Annual South Wasco Garden Expo today! Thank you to everyone who came from far and near to join us.

A huge thank you to our Master Gardener volunteers, the Maupin Dig and Hoe Garden Club volunteers, The Maupin Chamber of Commerce, and the South Wasco County Library! It was an all hands on deck affair and we were busy with attendees until the very last minute!

We will see you next year, the second Saturday in March!

Garden Expo tomorrow!!! You don’t want to miss this event. We have SO many seed varieties all FREE! Veggies, greens, herbs, onion sets, flowers…houseplants! There will be some amazing vendors sharing their own garden related wares and Master Gardeners will be stationed throughout to answer any and all of your gardening questions. We have SWAG bags full of goodies for the first 100 to come through the doors and several amazing raffle prizes-free to enter!

There’s nothing better than spending a cold winter day inside organizing seeds for the 4th annual Garden Expo! It’s coming right up, the second Saturday in March at the Maupin Expo Center. The picture below is just a small fraction of the seeds we will be giving away. You heard that right, free seeds!

If you love to garden and the idea of a garden expo makes you feel all sorts of excited, you should consider becoming a Master Gardener! Not only would you be able to help at this event, but we have many other amazing volunteer opportunities you could join.

Do you love roses? Help out at the Sorosis Rose Garden where Master Gardeners have been working hard the last three years to restore the glory of the veteran’s memorial rose garden.

Do you love planting a themed bed for education and to donate produce to the local food bank? You’d love our demonstration garden aka The Dalles Imagination Garden on the riverfront trail.

Do you love working with children? We’re currently developing curriculum to take into elementary schools to teach various gardening topics. This is 🌟 NEW 🌟 we need you!

Do you want to learn more about FireWise gardening and help design and establish a local FireWise demonstration garden? (We will not be demonstrating by setting it on fire 🔥 😉). Come learn with us!

This is just a sample of the opportunities we have coming up for our volunteers with many other amazing options in the works. Does hosting houseplant bingo sound like fun? Come join us and help make it happen!

We will have a registration party on Tuesday, January 13th from 5-6pm on the 2nd floor of the 2nd building up at Columbia Gorge Community College and we’d love to chat with you and get you signed up. If you’d rather stay home and sign up from the comfort of your own computer, that’s fine, too! See the flyer in the comments for a link and QR code. We’re happy to answer any questions!
