Need Medical Equipment? Our Loan Closet is Here for You!

At the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, we believe in neighbors helping neighbors. Our Medical Equipment Loan Closet is a community resource designed to provide essential mobility and safety tools to those who need them ... at no cost!

How It Works

Our inventory depends entirely on the generosity of people like you. Because our stock is 100% donation-based, our "shelves" are always changing. Whether you are recovering from surgery or helping a loved one stay safe at home, we may have exactly what you need.

Currently, our closet often includes:

Mobility Aids: Wheelchairs, Transfer Chairs, 4-wheel Walkers (Rollators), 2-wheel Walkers, Knee Scooters, Canes, Quad Canes, and Crutches (including Forearm Crutches).

Bathroom Safety: Toilet Seat Risers, Transfer Tub Benches, Sliding Transfer Benches, Shower Seats, Commodes, Toilet Safety Frames, and Clamp-on Bath Rails.

Home Support: Bed Rails and more.

How You Can Help

Do you have gently used medical equipment taking up space in your garage or attic? Please consider donating it to The Center! Your donations ensure that we can continue providing these vital resources to our community.

Interested in borrowing or donating?

Contact us today or stop by the front desk to check our current availability or drop off an item.

Let’s keep our community moving and safe ... together!

For just $35 a year, you can become a member and help us make our numbers count. Your membership directly supports our ability to secure the funding needed for the activities you love.

In Person: Stop by the front desk and say hello!

Whether you're joining for the first time or renewing, your support makes a huge difference for seniors in The Dalles.

Did you know MCSC participates in the Bottle Drop fundraiser?

You can either bring your bottles and cans down to The Center or you can pick up bags from us to use and drop off at Fred Meyer. The bags are blue and must have our tag on them to be counted as a donation to MCSC!

The NU-2-U Shop at The Center is the best kept secret in The Dalles. But we don’t want it to stay that way …

Stop by the best little thrift shop in the Gorge and see what we’ve got!

We are open from 10:00am – 3:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Many excellent articles of clothing (and other items) come and go through the doors of this shop. Prices are way below most “thrift store” prices.

The Center volunteers are working hard to continually stock the NU-2-U Shop. Stop by and check out “the best little thrift store in the Gorge.”

Donations are accepted!

There are a few ways you can donate to the Mid-Columbia Senior Center …

First, visiting us, attending our classes, and benefiting from what we have to offer is the main way. We want you to be encouraged, educated, and help by our organization!

Second, you can come in and give a donation in person. There are a lot of ways to donate: you can give us your old medical equipment for the loan closet, you can donate to the NU-2-U shop, you can donate “door prizes” for our events, you can volunteer your time … or you can donate financially, of course!

To donate financially, you can visit our website or just stop by the Center!

Medicare can be a confusing subject. That’s why we at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center sponsor a branch of SHIBA (Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance).
SHIBA counselors are Oregon’s free, non-biased Medicare advisory volunteers. They are not associated with any particular type of insurance and do not give recommendations—just information. If you have any questions about your Medicare, you can get in contact with our local SHIBA counselors and talk either over the phone, via email, or in person.
We can also help you with suspected Medicare-related fraud.
Our SHIBA counselors at the MCSC serve Hood River, Gilliam, Sherman, Wasco, and Wheeler Counties.
