This Saturday we conclude our BLUES & R&B series with EMANUEL CASABLANCA & his trio. When Emanuel Casablanca picks up a guitar, it doesn’t just sing—it testifies. A torchbearer for 21st-century blues and blues-rock, Casablanca straddles grit and grace like few others in the genre today. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Emanuel grew up immersed in the rhythmic pulse of the city and the echoes of Southern blues. His influences—ranging from Muddy Waters, Albert King, and Jimi Hendrix, to Gary Clark Jr. and Dan Auerbach—converge in a sound that’s raw, rhythmic, and righteously unpolished. Casablanca first turned heads with his breakout LP, Fingers and Knives (2018), but it was his sophomore effort, Strung Out on Thrills (2020), that signaled the arrival of a major voice in modern blues. His third album, Blood on My Hands (2022), catapulted him to new heights. Hailed by critics for its emotional depth and sonic swagger, the record garnered two Independent Blues Award nominations, including Best Emerging Artist Album and Best Modern Blues Performance.

ROCK THE BRONX is back at the Bronx Music Hall for a night where rock, punk, funk, soul, and Latin rhythms collide. 🎸🥁⚡

Taking the stage: The UNBROK3N THE UNBROK3N , an NYC punk-rock trio bringing raw guitar, driving bass, hard-hitting drums, and songs rooted in resilience, survival, and plenty of rebellious energy. Their sound represents street punk, skate punk, ska punk, hardcore, and more!

Then get ready for TAINO NY! where the clave meets the guitar amp. Founded by Frank Ocasio Frank Ocasio and Frank Cotto, TAINO NY mixes Afro-Cuban and Latin rhythms with rock, funk, soul, and improvisation, drawing inspiration from everyone from Santana, Willie Colón, and Tito Puente to James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, and AC/DC.

And they’re bringing special guests Jorge Vazquez and Juan Gerena to make the night even bigger.

Incredible poetry and music tonight at the Bronx Music Hall. In partnership with City Lore' POEMobile and People's Poetry Gathering programs we presented bachata-inspired poetry and a concert by bachata legend, Judy Santot. The poetry was held outdoors in the amphitheater accompanied by the SoniCycle and projections of the poems.

This Saturday join us at the Bronx Music Hall for POETRY ON WHEELS: AMARGUE & PALABRAS, a Bachata Music and Poetry Bash. Artists will include poets Scarlet Gomez, Yaissa Jimenez and Massiel Alonso; bachata scholar Dr. Wilfredo Burgos-Matos; and Bronx bachata sensation Judy Santos and her band. The POEMobile, an art truck with painted iron wings arching above its roof, and poems in two dozen languages emblazoned on its sides, will project the lyrics in English and Spanish. The Mobile will be joined by Los Herederos and the Sonicycle, a mobile, solar-powered DJ station, sound system, and community-documentation platform equipped with turntables, speakers, and recording equipment to bring interactive music and storytelling to the streets.
Bring your family’s old LPs to be featured! And have your fortunes told by poetry tarot card reader Gabriella Belfiglio.
