Ready for Camp Alderwild! Tell your friends: we will have a tent at Camp Alderwild today and tomorrow staffed by our advocates and San Miguel County Public Health. We are here to speak with any festival-goers who feel unsafe or uncomfortable, and public health has Narcan and fentanyl test strips for harm reduction around substance use. Please refer anyone our way who may need help!
And a huge thank you to Public Health, Telluride Marshal’s Office, and San Miguel Sheriff for joining us today and yesterday for a presentation with beer staff and food vendors on how to keep an eye out for risky situations. These efforts are part of our Safe Festivals program. We hope everyone enjoys Camp Alderwild! 🕺🏻✨🌲🪩

Star-studded staff 🤩 Our incredible Bilingual Advocate Ruth received a very special honor last Friday, earning the Community Leadership Award from Thrive Community Health Network. We couldn’t be prouder of the important work Ruth does each and every day, advocating for Spanish-speaking survivors in all aspects of their lives. Ruth specializes in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence to establish safety and security, but she also advocates for fair working conditions for the Latino community. Ruth would like to share, “I feel very honored and happy to receive this recognition; this achievement also belongs to everyone who supports me on this journey—each of you contributes to making this a reality. Together, we are stronger.”

Meet Neilly! Neilly is a bartender at Last Dollar Saloon - one of several Safe Bar Certified establishments in Telluride. Staff at Safe Bar venues are trained to identify situations that could escalate into sexual violence, and to diffuse the situation through bystander intervention skills. The goal: to ensure everyone has a Safe Night Out.

And fun fact! When Neilly was in high school, she did an internship with SMRC and helped create the Peer Advocacy Club that we run to this day. Neilly has been committed to prevention and safety for years now; seems to us that you’re in safe hands at The Buck (and at all Safe Bar certified bars in town). SAFE Bar Network

We hope everyone had an amazing first day at Jazz Fest! Did you know that we and our friends at Public Health have a safety tent? Please stop by if you witness or experience harassment or abuse - we’re here to make the festivals safer for everyone. Our tent also offers free Naloxone thanks to San Miguel County Public Health and even fans to stay cool in this heat! We are here from 12-8 pm.

We’re so grateful to SAFE Bar Network for helping us put together Safe Festivals all summer long! We hope everyone enjoys Day 2 of Jazz Fest tomorrow!

Funding for victim services keeps shrinking, but our commitment to survivors doesn’t. Read the full Telluride Times story at the link in our bio.
San Miguel Resource Center has supported survivors of sexual and domestic violence for over 40 years. This work takes resources: emergency shelter, therapy, legal help, basic needs. As we navigate funding challenges, community support ensures that survivors in our community receive the assistance and advocacy they need, no matter what. Interested in attending our private Summer Raise on July 21? Reach out to Lisa Sebree at [email protected].

All we can say is WOW! Thank you Telluride for showing up and playing your hearts out at our inaugural Play It Forward pickleball fundraiser. We hope you had as much fun as well did! Fundraisers like this are more important than ever, as we are currently experiencing severe cuts in government grant funding. Each of you who came out today made a direct impact on our ability to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Thank you for showing up for our shared community 🩵💜

And a huge thank you all our incredible sponsors who made this event possible! Every point, rally, win, loss, tie, prize - we couldn’t have done it without you all!
