We're bringing the ski community together with a Freeski Film Night to celebrate the spirit of winter! We’ll premiere new films from Faction skis and projects from local pro athletes, including 'Accumulation' from Bobby Brown and 'ALTO' from Cody Cirillo. Come get fired up for ski season!

R***e season starts this week! Hunting season is underway, and most of our public land is multi-use, so hunters and outdoor recreationalists are sharing the same trails.

R***e season:
1st season - Regular Elk Season - Oct. 14-18, 2026
2nd season - Regular Deer and Elk combined season - Oct. 24 to Nov. 1, 2026
3rd season - Regular Deer and Elk combined season - Nov. 7-15, 2026
4th season - Regular Deer and Elk combined season - Nov. 18-22, 2026

Share the space and take extra precautions: wear bright colors when you're out & give hunters space, and avoid interfering with a hunt in progress. For a complete list of season dates, please find them on the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Website engagecpw.org

We have BIG news! The Telluride Mountain Club's trails proposal has been APPROVED!

TMtC just received approval for 8 miles of new trail and 5.5 miles of trail reconstruction. This has been nearly 10 years in the making, and we're so excited to see it cross the finish line.

Check out the map to see what's coming. First up: the Mountain Village to Valley Floor Connector Trail, slated to open to the public in late summer 2027.

As the bears prepare to hibernate, they enter a period of compulsive overeating (hyperphagia). They start feeding for 22 hours a day to gain the 20,000 calories a day they need to survive hibernation. That's more than an Olympic swimmer.

Bears instinctively avoid people; keeping food out of reach is what keeps it that way.

As we prepare for a likely El Nino winter, the PI Fund is already creating opportunities for avalanche education and backcountry user awareness.

This year, the fund is sponsoring 4SAW, the Four Corners Snow & Avalanche Workshop, in partnership with Friends of the San Juans.

Summer isn't over yet! Our trail crew is still hard at work and, last week, replaced the railing on the Wasatch Connector bridge. Get out there and enjoy it while you can.

We had a beautiful fall bike ride yesterday with local Spanish speakers. A great crew of women!

A big thank you to Telluride Cyclery for donating their space & bikes, Christy's Sports for donating bike demos for our participants to use, and our partners, the Wilkinson Public Library and Sheep Mountain Alliance, for making it all happen.

Staff Highlight: Sophie Fabrizio, Executive Director
Favorite Trail: Liberty Bell to Sheridan Crosscut Loop

Sophie has been involved in Telluride's nonprofit space for the past 10 years and deeply appreciates the role local organizations play in helping the community thrive. She loves working for the Telluride Mountain Club because it allows her to advance recreational access, outdoor education, and community connection throughout the beloved San Juan Mountains. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys skiing, rafting, trail running, fly fishing, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Ca$h.
