For Mary Jane Malone, that meant creating a fund focused on two things close to her heart: helping children and families in need and supporting local public safety and first responders.

After 37 years as a teacher and raising three daughters adopted from foster care, Mary Jane understood the importance of supporting children and families. Her daughter Kathy’s career as a paramedic also inspired her commitment to those who serve and care for others.

Mary Jane passed away just one year after establishing her fund, but her wishes continue to make an impact. Today, her fund supports causes including children in foster care, educational services, and local first responders.

We're excited to celebrate this milestone as we officially launch the Community Foundation of Southwest Indiana serving Perry!

While the name is new, our commitment to serving the people and organizations in Perry County remains as strong as ever. We'll continue connecting donors, nonprofits, students, and community partners with opportunities that create lasting impact right here at home.
