🌡️8/20/2026 C Yard Heat Status
Due to the weather in Tehachapi and C Yard being without electricity, the IFC has reached out to CCI to ensure and confirm that they are implementing the heat contingency plan for all individuals including those on medications that may be affected by the extreme heat indoors.

📨CCI has confirmed:
This scheduled SCE power outage has been in place for approximately 2 weeks, meaning we have been able to adequately prepare for any heat fluctuations which may impact comfortability within the housing units or facility as a whole. The officer conduct hourly heat logs which will ensure that the housing units do not exceed 90 or 95 degrees. In the case that this does happen, medical staff will follow protocols to mitigate any heat related concerns.

🚧 IFC does not know when the electric will be back on, but we will keep families posted should any further updates become available. Tablets are affected by this outage.

The Inmate Family Council (IFC) has been addressing ongoing concerns regarding the CCI food vendor for several years, with little to no resolution. We will continue our due diligence and advocacy efforts to ensure these concerns remain a top priority with the appropriate vendors and stakeholders.

As we are all aware, correctional facilities across the state continue to experience challenges related to food vendors, including food quality, service, and the significant impact of inflation, which continues to place an additional financial burden on families.

We strongly encourage everyone to participate in the survey being implemented by Restoring Hope California regarding these important issues. This is a valuable opportunity for families to share their experiences, voice concerns, and provide meaningful feedback regarding the food vendor services at CCI.
