Madi's Movement Transforming Foster Teens' Lives
Support teens aging out of foster care with tools for financial literacy, life skills, and career readiness. March Fourth.

Help them achieve independence and reach their dreams. Join us and make a difference! “I am Madi of Tampa, Florida. I am ridiculously passionate about becoming someone famous and important to help people because I can serve society more positively. I don’t have it all together, but I have a plan and I will change the WORLD!” written by Madison Ebie at age 16. Madison Elizabeth is a passionate youn

g woman with a sympathetic heart who wants to change the world. Madi set her vision on helping foster children, especially teens, who don’t have a voice and who face insurmountable obstacles at a critical point in their life. Her mission is to break down barriers so foster teens can achieve independence and realize their fullest potential. Most importantly, she wants to give them a voice. Madi’s spirit and vibrant personality embody her desire to lift up those around her. She is sweet and sassy, feisty and playful, and full of life. Her contagious personality is magnetic and makes everyone feel comfortable, regardless of the situation. Madi is the trifecta: beautiful inside and out, bright, and blessed with a heart of gold. Sadly, a tragic accident claimed Madi’s life on March 4th, 2021. Those two words resonate and affirm Madi’s message to her family. She inspires us to “march forth” in her honor and to help foster teens march forth as they transform, like a butterfly, to independence. Madi’s spirit is alive and she is living out her dream… to serve society in a positive way and change the WORLD.

What happens when the system ends, but adulthood is just beginning?

For many young adults aging out of foster care, turning 18 can mean suddenly facing life without the safety net so many of us depend on.

No guaranteed place to live.
No parent to call.
No easy way to get to work or school.
No one helping make the next decision.

This immersive experience will take you beyond the statistics and into the realities young adults can face as they transition out of foster care.

Walk through the choices.
Feel the uncertainty.
Hear real stories.
See the barriers.

And then experience what can happen when Madi’s Movement steps in with connection, resources, support, and a path forward.

Because foster care may end at 18.
Support shouldn’t.

We’re so excited to officially announce Athena Ebie as Madi’s Movement’s Director of Marketing!

For Athena, this work is deeply personal. As Madi’s sister, this mission has always been incredibly close to her heart. She has been part of Madi’s Movement since the very beginning, often working behind the scenes to help turn Madi’s legacy into something that creates real change for young adults aging out of foster care.

More recently, Athena stepped into a part time marketing role, helping bring our events, impact, young adult stories, and mission to life across our community.

And now, as Madi’s Movement continues to grow, so does her role.

As Director of Marketing, Athena will help lead our storytelling, brand, community engagement, and the way we share Madi’s Movement with even more people who want to be part of this mission.

For Athena, this isn’t just a job or a new title. It’s continuing her sister’s legacy and helping build the future Madi’s Movement was created to make possible.

We’re incredibly excited for this next chapter and for everything still ahead. 💜

We gave away our first car! 🚗🔑

For a young adult aging out of foster care, not having reliable transportation can mean missing a job interview, turning down a work opportunity, struggling to get to school, or spending hours navigating bus routes just to get home.

At our 3rd Annual Pathways to Employment Expo, Madi’s Movement, alongside our incredible partner Pass It Forward, changed that for one young adult by placing the keys to his very own vehicle in his hands.

But we weren’t just giving away a car.

We were giving away keys to independence.
Keys to opportunity.
Keys to stability.
And the opportunity to build a life of success.

Thank you, Pass It Forward, for helping us remove one more barrier and open the door to what’s possible.
More than a car. A new path forward. 💜🔑

🥃 $25,000 changed what was possible for our young adults. Now it’s our turn to show up for the organization that showed up for us.

Last year, Ybor City Rotary invested $25,000 in Madi’s Movement, helping us expand our impact and continue creating opportunities for young adults who have experienced foster care.

This year, we want the Madi’s Movement community to help us return that support in a BIG way at The Bourbon Ball on October 23! 🥃✨

Our goal? Help Ybor City Rotary raise DOUBLE what they invested in Madi’s Movement last year.

You can help by becoming a sponsor, purchasing a ticket, inviting your friends, family, colleagues and clients, or simply sharing the event with your network.

When organizations invest in our young adults, we believe in showing up for them, too. Let’s fill the room, celebrate an incredible community partner and make this their biggest Bourbon Ball yet! 💜

🎟️ Get your tickets or become a sponsor at thebourbonball.com

One set of keys just changed the direction of a young man’s life. 🔑🚗

At our Pathways to Employment Expo, one young adult received a vehicle that will help remove one of the biggest barriers standing between him and his future: reliable transportation.

Now, he has a way to get to work.
A way to get to school.
A way to pursue opportunities without depending on an unreliable bus route or wondering how he will make it home after a late shift.

For young adults aging out of foster care, transportation is about so much more than getting from one place to another. It can mean safety, stability, freedom, and the ability to build an independent life.

Today, one young man’s path changed. 💜🧡

But he is only one young adult. Transportation remains one of the biggest barriers we must continue working together to break.

Thank you to Pass It Forward for partnering with Madi’s Movement to place the keys to possibility directly into his hands.

This was more than a vehicle.

It was a new path forward.

$55,000 is changing the path forward for young adults aging out of foster care. 💜🧡

At our Pathways to Employment Career Readiness Expo, Community Foundation Tampa Bay presented Madi’s Movement with a $55,000 Competitive Grant to expand career readiness, life skills, and mentorship opportunities.

This investment means more young adults will have access to the support, resources, and connections they need to build independent and successful futures.

A special thank you to WFTS Tampa Bay for sharing this important story and helping bring more awareness to the needs of young adults transitioning out of foster care.

But this grant cannot reach every young person who needs us. It will take our entire community continuing to show up, give, volunteer, and open doors.

Together, we can make sure no young adult has to navigate adulthood alone. 🦋

🎓 ONE OF OUR YOUNG ADULTS JUST GRADUATED FROM FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY, BECOMING PART OF THE 3%.

Only about 3% of young adults who experience foster care earn a four year college degree.

When we first dropped her off at college, she was scared. She had only recently found stable housing, and leaving for college meant stepping into uncertainty all over again.

But she went anyway.

She pushed through the fear, overcame barriers most students never have to face, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University!

She did not just graduate.
She beat the odds.
She became part of the 3%.
And next, she will be starting her master’s degree!

We are beyond proud of you. Your determination, combined with Madi’s Movement advocates who stood beside you, supporting you, helped make this moment possible. Your past does not determine your future. 🎓✨
