The City of Avondale, AZ honored local African American artists last night with the opening of their newest exhibit, "Community Canvas: Celebrating Black Artists", at the new Avondale Civic Center Art Gallery.

Community members and featured exhibit artists gathered for a meet 'n greet reception inside and the unveiling of a new public art sculpture outside of the Civic Center Library.

The exhibit was curated through the West Valley Arts Council and consultant artist Lizz Denneau. "Community Canvas" will be on display at the gallery located in the Avondale Civic Center Library now through July 21. Open to the public Mon-Thurs 10am-6pm and Fri-Sat 1pm-5pm.
