💙 THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT. 💙
Reading this comment after our Trunk or Treat truly reminds me that the biggest accomplishments in livestock and 4-H/FFA aren’t always measured by belt buckles, ribbons, banners, or trophies.
Those awards are wonderful, and we’re proud of every accomplishment our kids work so hard for. But the things that matter most are the lessons they learn along the way — kindness, patience, compassion, respect, and taking the time to make someone else feel special.
The young man in the goat hotdog costume may have thought he was simply letting a little girl pet his goat, but to her and her family, that small act of kindness meant so much more. He took his time, showed her patience, and created a moment they will remember.
THAT is a champion.
We spend so much time teaching our kids how to walk into a show ring, present their animals, and work toward that next big win. But teaching them to be good humans, to lead with kindness, and to make a difference in someone else’s life? That’s the kind of success that lasts long after the show is over.
The belt buckles may get put on a shelf, the ribbons may get tucked away, and the trophies may collect dust — but the impact our kids have on other people can last a lifetime.
To this young man and his family, thank you for reminding us what really matters. And to all the livestock families out there, keep raising kids who are not only proud of the animals they show, but also proud of the people they are becoming.
This is something our entire Desert Oasis Livestock Show Team excels at! We are blessed to have such an incredible group of kids who consistently show kindness, compassion, and a willingness to help others. They are learning that being part of this livestock family means so much more than raising and showing animals. It means supporting one another, being leaders in our community, and treating others with respect and love. We couldn't be prouder of the amazing young people they are becoming!
Because at the end of the day, we aren't just raising livestock. We're raising the next generation of compassionate, kind, and hardworking humans.
And THAT will always be worth more than any buckle or ribbon.
