On August 8, Millmont Youth arrived from Pennsylvania to spend a week helping around the property. This group brought with them energy and a willingness to help wherever needed. Days were spent working, and evenings they found time to explore, play games, and connect with some of our local youth.

The main focus of the youth group was to reskin the building that houses the water tower valves. The outer layer of brick was falling away, so the group tore down the brick, cleaned it for resale, and rebuilt the exterior walls. Along with this project, they replaced windows, painted, cleaned, pulled weeds, and helped with other odd jobs. They also connected with some of our residents and helped around the House of Ruth. We are so grateful for this group and their willingness to help bring hope to the hopeless!

Come Join us this Saturday the 22nd for our 3rd annual 5K. We'll also be doing an open house for House of Ruth as well. Its a great opportunity to see the place and ask questions about the program.

STAFF RETREAT 2026!!!
What an absolute blast!!
We had such a fun and relaxing afternoon /evening playing lots of games, eating lots of good food and enjoying swimming and four wheeling as well! We so grateful for all of our amazing staff members here at Project 61!!

We are very excited about our upcoming open house and 5k on August 22nd! Any and all are welcome!!

No day is ever the same but here's a glimpse into this particular day.

The job as case manager includes:

📁looking at where people are when they come into the program and where we want to see them when they leave and helping create a road map to get there.

📁helping connect them with community and federal resources. Link, health insurance, license, birth certificates, etc.

📁work with DCFS and the court system to help women and mothers meet their goals and start a new life over with their children.

📁Weekly meetings during the first stage of the program to help them prioritize what needs to be done next and make sure we're staying on top of everything.

A big THANK YOU! to the Bethel group from Indiana for coming.

They arrived Wednesday evening, Had a quick supper and headed up to work at Cafe 61, they worked from 6:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Thursday morning they relaxed and worked again that evening. (not as crazy hours this night 😅)

Friday morning, they headed back up to Cafe 61 and finished the chairs they were working on. Friday evening they planned to do a beach night but got rained out so they spent the evening at Project 61.

Saturday morning they headed back home.

Due to a change in schedules, Roselen's will now be closing Saturday, May 16 instead of Tuesday, May 19 as our last post said! Reopening is still to be determined.

We would also like to take the opportunity to publicly recognize Dennis, Rose, and Lena and all the hard work and dedication they put into Roselen's. It has been a connection point for the community and a fantastic place to gather, eat, and get a cup of coffee. We do not take the transition lightly and want to continue to be those things for the community! It is an honor to be entrusted with this opportunity.
