Our 2026 Senior Expo yesterday was a success! We saw close to 200 people come through for the expo! 🎉

We celebrate our clients with the expo once per year but we are here Monday - Friday from 8:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. providing free services to Older Adults age 60+ and disabled individuals age 16-59, call us for an appointment or to ask about our programs and services-217-728-8521. BAKE SALE: Happening all day tomorrow, Friday, September 4, 2026 in our building at the 2026 Senior Expo-113 E Jefferson in Sullivan.

Doors open at 9:00a.m., expo lasts until 2:00p.m. Proceeds benefit our non profit organization and our maintenance fund.

COUNTIES: Piatt-Champaign-Christian-Macon-Moultrie-Douglas-Coles-Edgar-Shelby-Cumberland-Clark-Effingham-Jasper-Crawford-Clay. INCLUDING THE CITIES OF of Mattoon, Monticello, Marshall, Olney, Shelbyville, Tuscola, Effingham, Rushville, Urbana, Taylorville, Pekin, Eureka, Charleston, Bloomington, Springfield, Decatur, Sullivan, Champaign AND surrounding communities.

WHAT...Afternoon Heat index values of 100 to 108.
WHERE...Portions of central, east central, southeast, and west central Illinois.
WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Friday.
IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Drink plenty of water and take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Never leave pets or children in unattended vehicles. Heat-related illness and dangerous hyperthermia can begin inside a parked vehicle in as little as 10 to 20 minutes, because a car's interior temperature can rise 20 degrees Fahrenheit in JUST 10 MINUTES! For example, in 90 degree heat, a vehicle’s interior can rise to 110 degrees in those ten minutes.

PLEASE- check on elderly or potentially compromised friends, relatives, and neighbors, and remember that Mid-Illinois Senior Services, Inc., located at 113 East Jefferson in Sullivan is a cooling center for Seniors and Disabled persons. Don’t forget- this Friday’s Senior Expo will be a nice, cool, fully air-conditioned event, so beat the heat, come in and cool off, and have a great time with us all!
