The Illinois Foundation of FCCLA offers two scholarships annually. See the descriptions and links below to apply. The deadline for both scholarships is March 1, 2026.

Susan P. Burge Scholarship (High School Seniors)
The Susan P. Burge Scholarship was established in honor of Mrs. Susan Burge who served as the Illinois FHA-HERO/FCCLA State Adviser for many years. Mrs. Burge still serves as a member of the Illinois Foundation for FCCLA Board of Directors.

This scholarship financially rewards individuals (that plan to further study in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences Education) who have benefited from FCCLA programs and have made contributions to FCCLA organization.

Catherine A. Carter Leadership Award (College Students - Student Teachers)
The Catherine A. Carter Leadership Award was established in honor of Miss Catherine Carter who served as the Illinois FHA State Adviser for many years.

The purpose of the scholarship is to perpetuate the profession by financially assisting a future family and consumer sciences teacher, and encouraging future involvement as an FCCLA adviser.
FCS Education Majors are eligible to apply either the semester before or during their semester of student teaching.
