Wait. Are you excited about our upcoming exhibit Echoes of the Lens featuring work by Sally Mann, Paul Strand, Dorothea Lange, Eugene Meatyard and so many more? You are? Awesome.

Or maybe you're excited about Shared Vistas, a collection of American landscapes from seventeen different artists with mediums that range from acrylic, oil, watercolor, sculpture, pottery and more? You absolutely are. You should be.

But we're adding even more excitement to the mix. "BUT HOW LISA?" you might be asking yourself.

From the personal eclectic collection of Angus Carter himself, the 2nd floor library gallery features multiple works by indie rock album cover legend artist Steve Keene. For all of you GenX and millennials who grew up listening to Pavement, Silver Jews, and Apples in Stereo, you can now see his bold, fast, riotously colorful style up close, the same energy that defined a generation of record store walls and basement shows.

This is also the last weekend for you to catch Truck Month by Pat Jarrett in our 2nd floor gallery!

Four galleries. One opening. Tomorrow, Friday, June 12. Don't miss it. 5-8pm!

The R.R. Smith Center for History & Art is more than a building -- it's a hub. Home to the Augusta County Historical Society, Historic Staunton Foundation, and Staunton Augusta Art Center, our historic former railroad hotel now houses galleries, classrooms, archives, a garden, research libraries, and the offices of organizations doing meaningful work in this community.

And we need you.

We're looking for art and history lovers to join our volunteer team! As a Smith Center Ambassador, you'll be the first face visitors see -- welcoming them, directing them to current exhibits, sharing the story of this remarkable building, and connecting them to everything happening inside it. A few hours a month makes a real difference.

Volunteers get to:

Get a first look at new exhibits
Go behind the scenes of a working gallery and nonprofit
Connect with local artists and historians
Learn more about our area's architecture and history

Ready to be part of it? Fill out a volunteer interest form at rrsmithcenter.org/volunteer -- we'd love to have you on the team.
