We’re excited to celebrate a wonderful investment in our community.

Aundrea Self, representing 100 Women Who Care, recently presented the Friends of Starkville Library with a grant check for their project, Growing Gardens, Growing Minds. Accepting the check were David Morse, Friends of the Library president; Cindy Morgan, board member and grant writer; Brianna Newsome, Young Adult Services Librarian at Starkville Public Library; and Erin Talbert, Assistant Children’s Librarian.

This exciting project will promote sustainability through the library’s seed library, gardening books, a children’s plant course, and a seed bomb program. Growing Gardens, Growing Minds will provide hands-on activities and valuable resources to help community members learn more about gardening, sustainability, and growing minds right here in Starkville.

The Friends of Starkville Library are deeply grateful to 100 Women Who Care and the for their continued support through their annual grant program, where members contribute $100 each year to fund local nonprofit initiatives. We are honored that Growing Gardens, Growing Minds was selected for funding and look forward to seeing the impact this project will have in our community!

The upcoming book sale for May 4 has the title “Spring into Books!” This month’s committee has been busy with wonderful contributions. What a great place this will be for you to pick up your latest flight into Spring!

We have lots of recent publication books, both fiction and nonfiction. The children’s area has loads of new, colorful, and classic books. Especially the juvenile chapter books offer whatever adventure a young person could hope for.

Boxes of books that highlight different wars have come in with a good number of both fiction, nonfiction, and biographies of war heroes. If you like to read vintage books, we have a wonderful selection for you.

Let’s not forget our musicians, as we have 5 whole boxes of musical collections for banjo, guitar, piano, and organ for only a dollar a book.

All in all, this sale will be an event you will not want to miss! See you there on Monday, May 4, from 11:45- 5:45!

Join us for Books & Authors at the Starkville Public Library! 📚

The Friends of the Starkville Library will host author Rhonda Lynn DiBiase on Thursday, April 16. Refreshments will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at 12:00 p.m.

Originally from Hollandale, Mississippi, and now a resident of Leland, DiBiase will share and sign copies of her faith-based memoir Fear Finds Faith. First edition signed copies will be available for $12.95 plus tax.

After the loss of her mother, Linda, in 2024 following a lengthy illness, DiBiase was inspired by two important people in her life to write this heartfelt story of faith and resilience.
