Today five members of the Starkville Town and Country Garden Club (STCGC) attended the Tommbigbee Valley District Spring meeting in Columbus at St. Paul's Episcopal Church as part of National Garden Week. The meeting was hosted by Columbus Garden Club and Galaxay Garden Club, both of Columbus, MS. The district meeting was facilitated by The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Tombigbee Valley District Director Cindy Kirk. Multiple state officers of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi (GCM) spoke and updated all the garden club members on both state and national changes and upcoming events. Sassy Mauldin, president of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, introduced all the statewide officers and board members and gave out grant awards as well as several awards won by clubs at the national level.
Of particular interest was a presentation on Mississippi's events and activities for America 250 by Nancy Carpenter, director of America 250 of Mississippi.
It was also reported there 2,780 Garden Clubs of Mississippi members statewide!
Members from STCGC attending the district meeting included Betty Woolfolk, Anna Hood, Christie Lawrence, Connie Templeton, and Ginger Jones.
