Starkville Rotary Club learned about Lafayette’s visit to Mississippi from Brother Rogers, retired director of Programs and Communications Division of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. He gave us a taste of the era we are celebrating with the Nation’s 250th anniversary. Past President Kyle Jordan introduced him to the club members. Matt Bowen presented the prayer pledge and 4-way test. New Starkville Rotary After Hours Club member, Amy Hart provided her self-introduction to the club and she received her Rotary International pin from her sponsor Melanie Hankins Booth. Receiving Paul Harris Fellowship pins were Rotarian Matt Bowen from Executive Secretary Gary A Blair and Rotarian David Garraway from Past President Debra Hicks. Several Rotarians provided Brag Buckets on various Mississippi State University programs and club members who provided service above self recently. Brother Rogers program was very educational on a Frenchman who supported President George Washington through out the early years of our country and visited Natchez Mississippi in 1824 to fulfill a pledge of visiting every state in the Union during his lifetime.
