In the wee hours of the morning, Illinois’ General Assembly passed a FY2027 budget that includes $1.5 million dollars to extend the Pretrial Success Pilot Program! Legislators are still on the floor! You can call their office before MIDNIGHT to ask that they provide $2.5 million in new funding to keep the Pretrial Success Grants Program going.

Look up your legislators using this link.

Let’s save the Pretrial Success Act!

🚨Save the Pretrial Success Act🚨

The Pretrial Success Grants Program has been providing essential support for people awaiting trial but new funding is not currently in the state budget. If the General Assembly doesn’t add it to the budget today, this vital program will no longer exist.

Please call your State Senator and State Representative as soon as possible to ask that they continue to fund pretrial success! Find your legislators by visiting bit.ly/LookUpLegislators

Last year, the Illinois legislature funded the creation of the Pretrial Success Grant Program as a pilot program in five counties. The Pretrial Success Grant Program is bolstering the success of people who are released pretrial, thanks to the Pretrial Fairness Act, by expanding access to vital services like transportation and child care so they can attend court and providing resources for mental health, substance use disorder and other needs.

This program needs funding in order to survive. Right now, there is no new funding for the Pretrial Success Act in the budget. The deadline to pass a budget is midnight tonight, so this is our very last chance to convince our legislators to give this program the funding it needs to keep succeeding.

Look up your State Senator and State Representative’s Springfield phone numbers (the number with the 217 area code), and give them a quick call RIGHT NOW to ask that they provide $2.5 million in new funding to keep the Pretrial Success Grants Program going.

𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐭!! ⚡️💚🗣️ Springfield organizers, leaders, advocates, and residents joined hundreds of fellow Illinoisans at the capital today. Illinois needs to establish guardrails to ensure energy- and water-intensive data centers don’t increase families’ utility bills, pollute our air, or threaten our water supply. Let’s pass these commonsense safeguards NOW‼️We can do this by passing the Power Act.

We had a great convo with Senator Doris Turner about how data centers can impact frontline communities. It’s time to pass the POWER Act to ensure that ALL Illinoisans are protected from unchecked data center development.⚡️

Missed ? That’s okay! You can still join us and the hundreds of other Illinoisans to lobby our legislators by reaching out to yours via email. It’s easy! Use this form to send a note of support: act.ilenviro.org/a/poweract

Memorial Day carries a deep history rooted in freedom, sacrifice, and remembrance. 🇺🇸

Many people don’t realize that one of the earliest Memorial Day commemorations was led by formerly enslaved Black Americans in Charleston, South Carolina after the Civil War. What began as an act of honoring fallen Union soldiers became a powerful symbol of dignity, community, and freedom.

As we remember those who gave their lives in service, we also remember the people who fought to ensure they would never be forgotten.

Today, we honor the lives, sacrifices, and stories that shaped this nation. 🕊️
