We love seeing our students grow, and there’s no better way to do that than by……exploring somewhere brand new and flying to that destination.

We just got back from taking a group of high schoolers to Washington, D.C. This trip was a great. We experience a different community, learn some history, and saw the world from a new perspective and a lot of walking plus a lot of junk food.

Watching our youth ask questions, explore new experiences, and connect as a group is also a great experience.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible for our students. Thank you guardians for trusting us on this journey.

Here we GROW AGAIN.

For 22 years, The Outlet has mentored and walked beside young men in our community. We are now working to become a regional hub/one stop shop for youth development, keeping our core focus on helping youth reach their full potential. To help make this possible, we are grateful to have received federal funding through Senator Tammy Duckworth, which allows us to begin our next phase of building renovations.

Moving forward will continue to require faith, teamwork at every level, from federal leadership and state support to our local community members and supporters. Thank you to everyone who has stood by us over the last two decades. We are grateful for your partnership as we enter this next phase of growth. We aren’t done yet.

Just as we started putting out feelers to buy a service vehicle for our mentoring program, O’Shea stepped up and gifted us this one. We needed a reliable way to haul things around our place and for community events, and this answers that need and more.

It is amazing how God listens to our conversations, shows up right when we least expect it, and provides what we need. O'Shea Builders, thank you again from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity continues to make a difference in our work and help us serve our community even better. A special shout-out to Scott and Matt for everything.

Finally getting some trees and branches taken care of on our campus.

Huge shoutout to the crew from H.F. Crawford Tree Service for coming out and doing such an awesome job with the trimming and removal.

If you guys are in the Springfield area and ever need tree work done, honestly give them a shout at 217-670-3519. They’re super professional and will make quick work of it.

The village showed out, and it’s beautiful to see how much care there is for our youth in Springfield according to our last post.

A lot of you spoke on how much these students need consistent, flexibility, reliable people in their corner, safe spaces, mental health resources and more. We completely agree. But to make that a reality, we need people ready to lock arms with us.

The physical space at The Outlet Academy is coming together, but now we need the people power. Building the future of The Outlet Academy will take a village and more and we want to hear from ours.

As we prepare to open our doors with Springfield Public Schools - District 186, we are focused on creating an environment where students can grow.
