Camp Widjiwagan - GSCI

Camp Widjiwagan - GSCI Conveniently located on Lake Springfield, Camp Widjiwagan is a 67 acre wooded haven used for camping, events and trainings.

Accommodations include three heated lodges with electricity, kitchens, and fireplaces. Conestoga wagons, and platform tents. Camp Widjiwagan is an exciting place for girls to enjoy a well-rounded Girl Scout experience. Girls will learn new things and grow strong in any session they choose to attend. Day camp allows girls a safe environment to learn new games, make arts and crafts, practice outdoor

cooking skills, develop environmental awareness, and, most of all, have fun with new friends and play in the water. Day camp is the perfect starter camp for girls who want to get comfortable in the outdoors and who are interested in exploring new activities close to home. Before and after care is available at all day camps at no additional charge. Lunch and snack are included each day.

Despite some unpredictable weather, we ended this week 2 sunny and exciting days! Thursday featured our annual cardboard boat race with a slightly controversial DCA win, and Friday was packed with some outdoor adventures. Thanks to our STEM Squad for a great week!☀️🏕️

We were fortunate to have 7 fabulous CITs during our STEM Squad camp session! These high schoolers spent the week learning lots about how to work with campers of various ages, plan engaging activities, lead songs and games, how to be flexible when things don’t go as planned, and how to add magic to our camp experience. As part of their CIT 1 pin, they completed a service project as our craft shack. We are excited to have them back throughout the rest of the summer for their respective apprenticeship weeks!

Holy thunderstorms! We are hoping for a sunny and dry rest of the week here at camp. Despite the weather, we are busy with experiments, shenanigans with our evil camp raccoon (Larry), and our cardboard boat race.

Ever notice that your child is suddenly willing to clean up after themselves, keep track of their own belongings, or listen to directions when they’re at camp? We hear it all the time. That’s the special power that counselors have to make every activity at camp exciting, even wiping down lunch tables!

There’s no better way to start the weekend than at camp! 28 Brownies and Juniors joined us on Friday night for an adventure-packed campout. We canoed and did archery while the sun set, enjoyed a night hike and s’mores, then rock climbing and god’s eye crafts in the morning. With only 58 days until camp begins, our remaining spots are getting low! Has your child been eyeing a certain session? We would recommend registering soon.

Remember, unlike program events during the year, we can’t always open more spots when the need arises. Girl to adult ratios don’t allow much wiggle room, and we would never want to compromise on safety.
